Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Hmmm...Your right...Hard to say too, but I think your right!

Evrything in the promo image looks dark, but it looks like there is a pattern inside each little box. (It's the Joker hexagon material! :lol :p ;) )

UM, do you have any of the other images, like of the vest, and trim placement on the coat, etc. I'm in need of more ref material. I only have like 12 or so images to go off of.

Well my first SA costume piece for my MH! I actually found similar ribbons at JoAnns. Holy crappacino!!! $27.00 worth of ribbons! Egad! I accidentally bought gold ribbon that had wire running through it. I didn't realize it until the last minute. Removed the wire but the ribbon twirled up like a spring. Now I need to go to another JoAnns and find the gold ribbon! Sold by the yard!

The large 5-inch safety pin was leftover from my US Navy days. Those were used for binding up our laundry bags onboard the ship. It is actually over 18 years old! WOW!

Anyway enough rambling! Next comes the thread bandolier!

Nice! :D I was just talking about the gigantic safty pin yesterday....We used to have a big one around here (mabey even to big); because we always used to joke it was for the big baby diapers we'd all have to use one day. :lol I wonder if we tossed it out. :(

Well gold ribbon has been added but no need to see new pics.

Just need to wire up the spools of thread and my near SA bandolier is finished. Thinking about tarnishing up the chain links. HI RES images of the "hero" chain links look very banged up as if each one was made by a blacksmith.

I found the perfect material for the gloves and hat scarf. Also purchased all the supplies to make just ONE freakin' peacock feather ornament. If anyone needs supplies (yarn, beads, etc. just PM me). Same for the material!!!

I'll post pics later.

The question! What to do about the bird patch on the left chest pocket. NickyTea...what did you do for yours? I was thinking about creating the pattern and then painting it rather than trying to get it embroidered. Ideas? Anyone have a good picture of said bird / patch?

I ran out of time and cheated. Ironed onto a piece of felt and reinforced with wire.

Here's a pic:

From several screen grabs from the HIRES trailer I have counted 26-28 spools of thread on the bandoleer. Mostly from the walking on the table at the tea party scene!

Still need to find some flat wire / metal strips to attach the spools to chain.

Hey gang, I have an idea of what the bird is constructed of or at least part of it. I remember back when I was about 18( 1980's) or so doing these black felt bird framed picture art, specifically, the Bald Eagle and a Peacock. You would make these by gluing a combination of beads, metal details, and sometimes jewels then outlined with gold cord or more of these beads. The clear beads were accent beads that looked like clear or even silver tubes. I think the birds feathers and pattern that you see that look raised are done with these beads...not 100 % sure, but that's what It looks like to me, most craft stores probably have these beads.

It looks like people are mostly doing the Mad Hatter costume here. Do you know if anyone has attempted the Red Queen yet? I am trying to locate the top embroidered trim on the bodice of the dress and have had no luck finding anything remotely close in my area.

One of my best friends comissioned the Alice dress that was on display at the show at SDCC from Limebarb.com--just recieved it and I haven't seen her pics of it yet with her in it, however Barb has posted an auction for another one on ebay:

It's really nice and actually quite close to accurate, especially for that price. I forwarded my friend hi-def photos I took at the exhibit and that's part of what was used for reference. Going over the garment with a fine toothed comb compared to the hi-def pics it lacks in some areas in minor ways, but Barb really did a nice job of the bottom embroideries (though not embroidered), alternating the different animals and all. To me that's one of the most important features of the dress and she nailed it. Overall, it's really lovely! I'd buy it myself if it weren't Christmas season! XD (The more I look at it though the more the flaws jump out. I'm probably just currently entranced by the fact that it's the first one I've seen with a dollar sign in front of it lol 0_^)

EDIT: spelling is not my friend tonight.
EDIT2: neither is coding. >.<
