Quoted from Wiki:

Tiger & Bunny is a 2011 Japanese anime television series produced by Sunrise under the direction of Keiichi Satou. The series began its broadcast run in Japan on April 3, 2011 on Tokyo MX followed by rebroadcasts on BS11 Digital and MBS.[1] Viz Media are also simulcasting the series, streaming on Hulu and Anime News Network.[2] It is set in a futuristic city where two superheroes, the old fashioned "Wild Tiger" and the rookie hero Barnaby Brooks Jr. are forced by their employers to work together.

The series takes place in a fictional re-imagined version of New York City called Sternbild City, where 45 years before, individuals with superpowers called "NEXT" started appearing and some of them became superheroes. Each of city's most famous superheroes work for a sponsor company and their uniforms also contain advertising for real-life companies. Their heroic activity is broadcast on the popular television show "Hero TV", where they accumulate points by each feat accomplished and the best ranked hero of the season is crowned "King of Heroes". The story mainly focuses on veteran hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi aka Wild Tiger who is assigned with a new partner, a young man named Barnaby Brooks Jr. However, Barnaby and Kotetsu usually have trouble working together as they have conflicting opinions on how a superhero should act.

I aimed to finish the costume by august just in time for a toy convention held here.

Armor will be done by using floor mats.

Hope to get advise from you guys here on how to make the shoulder armor rounder. :)

Re: Tiger & Bunny - Barnaby WIP

This is an ambitious project ... and I think it's very cool and looks like a male version of the BubbleGum Crisis 2040 armor.

As for question on making the rounder forms... when working with foam, you always have (IMO) 2 options: Thermoforming (in any kind) or "Darts".

You are able to make a very round shape just by gluing triangle together (side by side). The length of the triangle and the angle of the side will determine the curve you'll get when they are all attached one to another. So by cutting "darts" in your material, you should be able to get round shape for your shoulder for example - but the downside to this is that it's difficult to get a nice egal round shape (as it's more or less trial and error on where and how many darts you'll need) and that you'll end up with seams to hide.

On thermoforming - I'd suggest you give EvilFX blog (on his Mass Effect Armor builds) a read. For the female armor, he thermoformed his foam mat to get the required shape. You can find the thread he posted here: Link

Only good things can come of this project. Looking forward to your armor! Will you be installing lights as well?

Re: Tiger & Bunny - Barnaby WIP

The project looks very interesting!

Just a note, there is a lot of "oldtimers" here, so it would be nice to have a little more info in the thread title what the thread is about and some background information in the thread itself.

Thanks,

Re: Tiger & Bunny - Barnaby WIP

Tiger Bunny is a current anime this season (1st half of 2011). Based on really cliche Marvel/DC-ish kind of superheroes. From the Iron-Man like armors to the Spidey Spandex or even Green Hornet (retro) Kato's driver costume. But unlike our Marvel and DC where heroes survive on their own salary or inheritence ..

In this universe Heroes (called Next, their term of homosuperiors) survive on royalities from their sponsors like Pepsi, Ustream, Bandai (and other anime/Japan companies) .. while these Heroes save people and perform their good deeds, they get points (they are aired on their TV show called Hero TV) that will boost their ratings/salary/etc.

Their sponsors make merchandise like trading cards and etc.

I like the one called Wild Tiger, as he is an 'old timer' Spidey like person. Believing in justice and "With great power comes ..." .. well .. u know!

Skipped to the arms and start from head first, realised that it'll be easier to proportion myself this way. Really satisfied with the base, continuing tomorrow with the fins and sliding face mask. Wish me luck! :$
