I recently bought a set of Threepio head moulds from the bay, a cast of the disney head i believe.
Here is a pic from the auction

I thought i would run one off using a resin and alluminium powder mix, i got the idea from a thread over at the threepio builders forum,it worked out ok, but i removed the head from the mould to quickly so the back half is not to good, i used wire wool to buff the head and a bit of polish, if you worked at it long enough i think a better finish would be acheived, i am thinking of using bronze in the mix, see how that turns out.

what is your mixing ratio? i imagine you are using a clear gel coat and the metal powder? i was told by a silpak rep it is 3 metal powder to 1 gel coat by volume. i have tried 1:1 and it was very thick.

Looks fricking excellent Frosty.

By the way I saw your gear at Collectormania last month. Fantastic Freddy stuff.

All the best.
Steve :)

Thanks, Collectamania was a good laugh, didnt sell much but it was a good weekend.
The mix i used was about three parts powder to 1 part resin, i did not use gel coat i used polyurethane casting resin, seemed to not produce as thick a mix as gelcoat would.

I like the "battle damage" on the left side of the face. :thumbsup

Man, that droid must have taken one heck of a beating. :lol
