I've got a question for you cats that've finished your hammers. I've got mine at the 'bondo' stage according to the awesome tutorial on BlindSquirrel's blog (thanks bro.) and I put some bondo on a test piece of MDF to see how my choice of paint would look before I tried it on the hammer itself. Here's my conundrum.
I only bondo-ed half of my test piece, but wound up painting the whole thing. The half with the bondo seems much more susceptible to chipping than the side that's just painted straight on the MDF. Would I be running into trouble if I just painted the hammer without bondo-ing it? The paint I'm using is 'hammered metal' (kinda seemed appropriate
) and says it doesn't require primer as it's an uneven finish and will mask any problems without primer.
Help me out boys.
