I think that might be skewed by the data pool. My impression is that France has fought a lot more wars than the US, so while it may have 'won' more it has almost certainly LOST more. Not to pick nits or anything. But hey, if I'm wrong I'd love know so I can be right in the future. I do so love being right.
edit: Just for the sake of being on topic, if they'd really wanted to be cliche would they not have cast a german as the villain?
Everybody knows that Germans can't be villains. They are all smiles and sunshine
Horst: (Sinister) Okay, Mr. Burns, you win. But beware. We Germans aren't all smiles and sunshine.
Mr. Burns: (Sarcastic) Oooh, the Germans are mad at me. I'm so scared! Oooh, the Germans! (Hiding behind Smithers) Uh oh, the Germans are going to get me!
Horst: Stop it!
Man: Stop, sir.
Mr. Burns: Don't let the Germans come after me. Oh no, the Germans are coming after me.
Man: Please stop the "pretending you are scared" game, please.
Horst: Stop it! Stop it!
Mr. Burns: (Pause) No! They're so big and strong!
Man: Stop it.
Horst: Stop it, Mr. Burns.
Man: Please stop pretending you are scared of us, please, now.
Mr. Burns: Oh, protect me from the Germans! The Germans--
Horst: Burns, Stop it!

Of course it has lost more... You are talking about probably a hundred wars over it's long history. If not more.
The US has fought a few wars, messed up in about half, got in everyone's business along the way :lol
My point was the american logic of France = Surrender (i dealt with that idiotic mentality everyday in High School in NY) is completely ridiculous. Especially when you are talking about a country that was around kicking butt LONG before the US was around, that currently has one of the best trained special forces on earth (French Foreign Legion) and that knows when to butt in or stay out.
Now back to topic plus i feel this is a bit too political (even though it's historical military conversation).
Thor = beautiful long blonde hair.
Borrowing from the funny thread:
Oh and is it me or is that 'darkness ship' remind anyone of the transport ship in Tron? :lol
I hope he doesnt wear it. Its not the most aerodynamic thing. It looks cool while hes walkin round. But my opinion is that its a stupid idea for him to wear it while fighting. Just ridiculous. It wouldnt work. Even loki doesnt really fight in his. And im not bothered if they dont purposly stick in bland scenes just to show it off. What a pointless idea to fill precious golden movie time lol

I really hope he wears it in the film. I love the design of it, even if it's impractical, because whenever I think of Thor, the two things that always come to mind are the hammer and the helmet.
Even though it springs to my mind also. Id rather have a good movie then him wear something making him look stupid just for the sake of tradition. I used to think of iron man as the cover of his tales of suspense. How crap would the movie have been if he looked like that.
Side note.... I cant see the helmet in the poster? Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

empiremagazine: The Marvel panel has begun. The atmosphere in Hall H is... Incredible. Cue Thor: The Dark World! And Tom Hiddleston! And lightning!
devincf: Loki teleports onto the stage at the beginning of the Marvel panel. Fans on their feet, chanting his name. He calls Feige a mewling quim.
ErikDavis: This is obviously the year where actors come out in character. I like this. The crowd eats it up.
EricVespe: Tom Hiddleston appearing in person as Loki. Meeting in "the arena they call Hall H. You should have let me rule you when you had the chance"
Silas Lesnick: He's glaring at the audience. He just called Hall H an "Arena of Midgard."
devincf: Loki stalks the stage, telling at us for standing in line to be in this meager chamber. #SDCC
EricVespe: Loki: "Where are your Avengers now? Claim loyalty to me and I will give you what you need." Crowd pretty much accepts.
Silas Lesnick: "Say my name," he says over and over. The crowd is chanting
Silas Lesnick: "Loki! Loki! Loki!"
Silas Lesnick: "It seems," he says, "I have an army."
Silas Lesnick: "Feast your eyes!"
Silas Lesnick: Here's the trailer...
Silas Lesnick: WOW! It looks like the most epic Game of Thrones battle you can imagine
Silas Lesnick: Very, very practical-looking
adamchitwood: Crowd very taken with the THOR 2 footage. Nearly all of it takes place on Asgard. Lots of Thor and Loki interplay.
EricVespe: There's a moment where Natalie Portman slaps Loki. "That's for New York!" Loki smiles, looks at Sif. "I like her."
devincf: THE DARK WORLD has all the scope THOR was missing. Footage was great.
devincf: There's no way something shown in a trailer at #sdcc is a spoiler, guys.
EricVespe: I remember when the first Thor footage played Comic-Con. People didn't know what to make of it. This time out the audience blew the roof off
devincf: Loki cuts off Thor's hand at the end of THE DARK WORLD footage.
ErikDavis: Holy crap, THOR: THE DARK WORLD looks awesome. Lots more fantasy elements. Ends w/ shot of Loki slicing off Thor's hand. Wicked stuff
