no "here is the finished article" crank?

well i guess the pictures speak for them selves, its a well crafted piece, and a smooth looking finish.

considered doing the LED light show in the visor?

Re: Thomas Bangalter Daft Punk Encore build

That is truly incredible work. I work for a body shop and I can say getting the mud smooth is the easy part. However I have no doubt that someone with your skills has an amazing future with whatever you do. Daft Punk rules! So when are you going to get them electronics in that bad boy?

Re: Thomas Bangalter Daft Punk Encore build

This build is amazing! Always wanted to make a Daft Punk helmet, never really looked into it until now, this build has really helped.

Thanks man!

Speaking of this thread.......

I recently remolded the master sculpt and took much better documentation of the molding process. Enjoy the pics.

If you plan on doing a pep that isn't going to be for a mold, I would stay away from fiberglass and fiberglass resin. You want a polyurethane resin by a company like Smooth-On. And Bondo is only toxic when you're working with it. Once dried and cleaned up, you should have no worries.

Ok thanks. so do i spread the urethane just how i would with resin?

I'm not quite sure how you were taught to spread other resins, but Volpin has a pretty good idea of what he's doing and how to explain it (And it just so happens to be the same helmet!) My Drunk Workshop: Sloshed Casting Tutorial - YouTube This is the same way you would strengthen a pep, in case the mold made you question the relevance.

Hi guys, I've been looking over the forum for a few days now so here goes with my first post.

First of all well done Crank729, this helmet looks amazing! I've checked a few threads out involving various helmets and I'm really liking to build process of this one. I'm a total novice to all this but I've decided I'm going to have a go at making the Thomas helmet to kill off spare time as and when I have it.

I've done a bit of research into materials and the process and would like to use the pep method. Problem is I'm a mac user and I've discovered that this makes things slightly more difficult when obtaining the pdf pep files to print.

I've been looking around a bit and can only find the pdo files which aren't much use on mac. Could anyone possibly help me in locating a pdf version of the Dung0Beetle_Thomas-Tron (cama900 unfold) pep?

I'm really eager to get stuck into this but want to pick the right pep and not waste time. This one seems to come recommended on the forums.

Cheers

Wow! I am amazed by your work. I'm a newbie here and I never did something like this before. This is far the best and most detailed thread I have found and of course the outcome is fantastic! :) I am also planning to make the Thomas helmet but I have few questions regarding this. I will use the same pep file but I will strenthen it with fiberglass. What do you think how many layers of fiberglass and resing should I use and of course how thick the fiberglass should be I'm using. Again, amazing work done here! :)

Hey dude, this its an perfect work! But english its not my first language so i dint understant a few things, like What did you do to make it like this? 7833803710_5b092ed51f_b.jpg ,the previous step was this one 7833800364_22a29f1de7_b.jpg but i didn´t understant what did you to make it look like the first image, and then what did you do for making it look like this?: 7952425382_84b5f57900_b.jpg , thanks!
