Thinking about building the resin B-5 PPG Painting Help needed!!!

Hello

I have had a resin cast Babylon - 5 PPG in the stash for years and I think I want to finally sit down and build it. Prep work aside (it's got a few over pour issues that I have to take care of) I was wondering how those out there who have had similar kits were able to get a reasonable looking Metal Finish!!! Here are a few reference pictures to spur some memories.
