Think I'm in the mood for ALIEN...

You ever get one those movie urges?

Tonight, I'm feeling the call of ALIEN and possibly ALIENS depending upon how sober I stay...

It's a funny, whimsical thing, but whenever I put on the first movie of a "franchise" I inevitably end up watching the sequels, even when they suck. Except JAWS 4, I draw the line there.

A good choice indeed, sir. Then again, I'm basically always in the mood for Alien/Aliens. Could watch Alien 3 in a pinch, but the fourth movie doesn't really exist for me... So very 90's, and that man-baby monster thing in the end... blechh.

You know...a little bourbon and some Nostromo action does sound good...

Don't forget to throw in the ALIEN soundtrack from Intrada. It's got a boat load of Goldsmith goodness.

i miss those little cute chest bursters, as long as they aint coming out of anyone i know. and myself.

I like Alien 3 well enough, it has it's charms.

Alien 4, no.

I like Alien 3 well enough, it has it's charms.yeah, I like the "directors cut" way better when I saw it than the theatrical version. Although I missed the part where the Alien tries to burst out of Ripley's chest as she swan dives into the molten lead.

I haven't watched Alien in years! (3 i guess)
Anyone can recommend which DVD i should look?

While we are talking about Alien and Aliens Im curious to see if any of you have the same bad habit that I do... I LOVE ALIENS but I have seen it a million times so whenever I watch it now on dvd I never watch the whole thing. I pick it up as the marines are coming out of hypersleep and go from there.

Yep- I do the same thing. Right to the chapter that starts with the Sulaco in space. For like... years now. :lol

There was a time that I had forgotten what the opening credits looked like. :lol

As for A3- I like the special edition too and thought it (would have been) a fitting end to the Ripley character and the series. I do however prefer the theatrical ending with the Queenburster (but can't stand the way the furnace looks like the size of a volcano).

Unfortunately despite agreeing to comeback and make A3 on the condition that Ripley would finally die, Sigourney did a 180 and made a fourth film. I guess money truly does talk. :rolleyes

The Alien series is easily in my top three franchises with Trek at #1 and The Terminator taking one of the next two spots depending on my mood.

After engrossing viewings of ALIEN and ALIENS this weekend, I'm currently rewatching ALIEN 3...

Despite my earlier comments, the whole back-to-back viewing experience has really killed 3 for me. The CGI just looks terrible compared to the amazing model and puppet work in 1 & 2. The CGI effects just don't bare up in any way.

It DOES have some good moments, but some really poor one's too. Watching the Directors cut BTW.

Dissapointing - I remembered it more fondly.
