Things you've always wondered about in sci-fi movies

That's great but I just wanted to know why nobody uses the folding stock on the e-11.
I thought they did in Andor, but then I watched the episode again and saw that no: those E-11 variants have a telescoping stock and an unused folding stock as forward grip.

I'm not seeing the folding stock at all. They look more like E-10 variants.

Indeed. Nature is funny that way, eh? :p
I believe that Sweden was, once, part of the Northern part of Canada. We have a special rock formation called "The Canadian Shield" and it can be seen also in part of your country. When I was working at Atomic Energy Canada, most of the scientific journals and literature concerning the mines and nuclear waste repositories were coming from Sweden...because the geology was the same and very safe to store those type of spent fuels for thousands of years.

Sounds about right.Though I'm located in the unique part of Sweden. Entirely made out of limestone :p

I went to Sweden and it looks a lot like Canada...(Nature, not the architecture or the cars with different plates :p )
I live in the Pacific NW, where it looks exactly like what you saw on SG1 and Battlestar Galactica which was also filmed in British Columbia.
Both areas look a great degree like Europe. Frankly, I'm surprised nobody has tried making a WW2 movie in this region in many years!

It’s funny, but all these ‘coincidences’ when sharing stories about the similarities between different cultures, countries and indeed continents...., how we all seem to ‘share’ the very same minuscule (some would say ‘insignificant speck’ - in the vast scheme of things), how truly ignorant we have been, are..., and are still.

And in sci-fi films when our hero/villain is captured and placed in a holding cell, why are there are never any video cameras in the cell or immediately outside of it? Pressure sensitive floor pads? Video surveillance in the hall immediately outside the holding cell? At least 2 security guards, armed to the teeth, standing outside the cell at all times?

Confirmed, this never happens. As proven by numerous accounts in the last 20 years, the only time the cameras go dark and the guards go to break is because the captive is being suicided in their cell by a highly paid third party with a scheduled visit.

I always cringe when they lock people up with all of their gear, they take their weapons (of course), but if they're wearing any kind of armor or belts or harnesses with pouches those stay with them. Of course, this is mainly an animation trope and so they don't have to create a new model, but it still gets old.

I wonder why so many sci Fi films are treated like porn in that they often get the worst writing. Why don't they commonly have Twilight Zone TOS level writing in even the cheapest of B grade sci Fi films?

I am going to go full cynical here. The reason... is.... because.... they are morons. Do you remember the hell we went through during the writer's strike??? When actors, directors, and producers thought they could dispose of the writing talent and write all their own material? The actual truth, no exag, is that most people are daft and only survive from day to day because society has so many built-in safeguards. Twilight Zone had legit logic and philosophy written into the narration. Most modern productions don't understand humor and logic wasn't even attempted. The writing is pick- from- the- hat or dartboard style picking random events based on no logic or sequential steps. We should now chant "Somehow Palpitine returned".
