Thickness of hull details on X-wing ?

Hi,

I started working on my Salzo V5. I have been cleaning up the hull cast, re-threading some panel lines that were faded and now I'm ready to cut and glue the small raised details that are unique to each hero version of the fighter. But I have no idea what thickness I should use. Eyeballing it, I would say 1 mm seems like aa good fit, but I was wondering if exact thickness was known and sharable (plastruct reference maybe?).
I know it would not be a huge deal if I don't get the exact same thickness as long as it looks good, but on the other hand, if I get this super accurate kit and go through the pain of mesuring and recreating each panel, might as well try to get the thickness right too if possible.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched the board but could not find it.

Thank you

I use pretty thin plastruct strips, .010” or .020”. I don’t have any part numbers handy, but they should be easy enough to find.

The one reference to this in the "official" literature that I know of, is Joe Johnston's mention of the plating on the Star Destroyers, and there he says they used .020" plating. So that's what I've used for my Y-Wing, and would also use for a 1/24 X-Wing if I ever got lucky enough to acquire a Salzo V5. Anyone still producing these? Anyone want to sell one?

Thank you for confirming 0.02"

I believe Mike only produced one run of the V5 about 2 years ago, I don't think he'll make more. The only way to buy it was directly through him. Maybe he has one or two left, you can message him directly on this board.
I have seen a couple of V4 for sale in the junkyard but I have yet to see a V5, people are holding on to them.

Thought you guys would like to see this... Our little gang is getting very close to an accurate-as-possible Hero hull, from my original unused top shell, and much sweat equity by Maruska and André.

The thickness tapers correctly in the back, framing the butt plate. The front harder hull lines soften as you travel towards the nose, too!

And I am working on an accurate ANH 1:1 set cockpit.

This looks fantastic! Are you guys planning to produce a kit of this and if so, would you sell the new hull and cockpit on their own or as a full xwing only?

Oh dear God....I’ve almost got Red1-6 complete, and now you’re doing a V6???!!!!

You’re KILLING me, Smalls!!!

No V6, this is for my one off 1/12th.

And Mike is outta the kit casting game, fellas, so the V5s that are out there are it!

I knew that doubling a model's scale would really amplify any not-right-ness, so this is the driving force behind all this craziness

Ooh! 1/12!! Keep us posted, I’d love to see the progress of this! Very cool, Jason!

I’m sorry to hear Mike is out of the casting game. His work was awesome!

Looks Like we are working to the same purpose
This cockpit is based mainly on the full-size ANH set but adjusted for application in 1/6 & 1/12 scale X-wings
The fuselage shape has "pedigree" from original ILM sources

Sorry if the last post was off-topic
OliverC; --JKirkon, is quite correct, most of the little pieces are,.01" & .02"
