Just got back. I type this as a 14 year old!

It Rocked! Took my 14 year old son and his friend and my son LOVED the makeup and loved the movie.

Now don't think this is some groundbreaking story. It's nothing new, but there is PLENTY of Wolfman and I mean PLENTY!

Transformation was outstanding. Not too much CG but just enough to make it look GREAT!

I think this is going to change the genre back to a bipedal monster for coming werewolf movies. I mean, he looked fantastic!! My son kept saying on the way home "Wow Dad, that Wolfman was awesome!". :D

I think Benicio did a fantastic job. I remember having my doubts when I first heard he was going to be Lawrence Talbot, but he was great.

It was a good ol fashioned Monster movie.

The wait was worth it!

edit: Oh, I forgot to add that there is lots of carnage, and I means LOTS...

Yes! Just got out of the theater myself. I'm really happy they reduced the amount of CG and used more old fashioned make up for the better part of it. I thought the film was really well done despite being a traditional style monster flick

FINALLY!! A Wolfman movie revew! This one is near and dear to my heart so I'm glad to hear it was a good movie. I'm planning on seeing it Monday night so now i'm REALLY excited! I mean, it's the Wolfman & Rick Baker for crying out loud! That's a dream combo right out of the gate, a decent story & good actors is just icing onthe cake! ;)

-B89! :D

I am not a fan of Joe Johnston's directing and he didn't change my mind on this movie, but I was able to get past that.

They were able to do a little for the younger generation and do a little for my generation. For the first time, it was a great mix!! :thumbsup

Now I want a full size Wolfman and maybe I'll finally pick myself up a Silver Wolfs head cane.

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like that they added Golem from LOTR. First time they showed that I was waiting for him to yell "My precious!"

Just got back, my wife and I both enjoyed it. I agree with DH, well worth the admission price.

Sad thing is our theater was empty..:confused

David Schofield, who played the Dart Player in AWIL has a role in this movie. Thought that was cool.

This movie plays Homage to AWIL and Curse of the Werewolf.

Just got back from seeing it as well, and I have to admit it was pretty good flick.

Hopkins was great as usual.
The production designs were great, and rampage scenes were awesome (Loved the scene at the gypsy camp).

Already got my Wolfman prop!

Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow after reading this thread. Although I don't give a lot of credence to savagely negative reviews I was amazed at how bad this movie is getting panned in general.

Is it because the movie incorporates more traditional makeup and prosthetics and less CGI than the younger generation was expecting? Given the fine acting pedigree of Hopkins and DelToro, I'm not sure what else it could be.

Will form my own opinion after seeing it, or course.

I saw all the negative reviews as well....And I have to admit I was a bit disappointed and expected to see a piece of crap .
Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the film.

The movie is what it is. The genre has been done to death, so there is really nothing to add.

I don't really don't know what these reviewers were expecting.

I have to admit, the original movie was pretty corny (though it's one of my favorites, but not my favorite) and this story is leaps and bounds better.

Being a Werewolf/wolfman fanatic, that has about every werewolf movie that has been made, this is my favorite now, replacing "Curse and the Werwolf" and "American Werewolf in London".

I think this movie has the best transformations scenes yet. They did good.

I felt it was flat and rather pointless. But... I really didn't expect anything else. The movie completely glossed over and sped through the areas that could have given it a lot more heart and not just being filler until the next carnage scene.

Ok here is a question for everyone who has seen this movie, would it be something an 11 year old can watch since it is rated R? My son loves the classic Wolfman movie and is begging me to take him to see this one. He already knows what the Wolfman will look like and thinks its "really cool". I just do not want to spend the $$$ only to have to leave if it's too graphic for him.

Regardless, I have to go support this movie since I would love a return of the old Monster Movies again. :love

There is plenty of gore and severed limbs. I don't know what he's used to watching - how graphic. Honestly, it is not like a movie I ever saw when I was 11. But, I may have been sheltered a bit from all the gory and explicit horror movies I hear other people having seen from a very young age.

I can say this: if you won't show him An American Werewolf in London, you shouldn't show him this.

I was watching Aliens and other "bad" movies when I was 8. As long as I didn't say the potty words I was gold. :lol

I'm going to see this in the next few days, it's been on "must watch" list since the trailer came out last year.

Yes, it's gory, which I think was added to appeal to the younger generation, but my 14 looked at me during one of the "massacre" scenes and said "Wow Dad, I didn't think it was going to be this bloody".

Saying that, I don't think I would have taken him if he was 11. Might be a bit much. I asked my son if it was too much (I would have left and came back another time), but he said he was okay.

Another thing that might be much for a youngun is the "cheap" scares....the kind where something jumps out. Johnston uses a lot in this film, accompanied by a loud sound.

The goriest movies my son has watched are the Predator movies, and that does not seem to bother him since he loves Predators since watching AvP. However he doesn't even like the idea of slasher movies, and I do not let him watch those anyway. So if the gore is on the same level as say Friday the 13th, then he can't watch it.

hmmm.... it makes me wonder if they'll remake the original Frankenstien and Dracula movies now.... hopefully make them a bit more faithful to their novel origins.
