If it weren’t for the Chinese New Year month long shutdown, the Tricorder would be in full production now. The final firmware version is probably locked in.The the manual release suggest the firmware is close to the final version?
Those instructions seem pretty confusing. It probably makes total sense when you’re holding it and following the steps.The tricorder user manual has been posted online!

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE SUSPENSION NOTICE – effective Feb. 4, 2025
Effective Feb. 4, the Postal Service will temporarily suspend only international package acceptance of inbound parcels from China and Hong Kong Posts until further notice. Note the flow of letters and flats from China and Hong Kong will not be impacted.

China has been doing that through Canada and Mexico, as well as skating by on other products with the de minimus exemption, which I believe has been closed.That makes sense – otherwise every company in the world could bypass the tarrifs by routing products though a middleman country.

EDIT-- Yup. Just looked it up, the de minimus exemption has indeed been closed (with respect to China), and I think the tricorder would have come in duty free under it, since it was set at $800.
