The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

I was just reading, that for Metal Gear Solid 3, Snake Eater, which hits 20 years old on November 17th, that all these years, it was never known who the voice actress for Eva was. The credits said Suzetta Minet, but I had even read years ago that it was just a made up name to protect the true actress.

Just learned for many years, some people had figured it was most likely Jodi Benson, but today, the 6th, Konami FINALLY revealed that it was her.
Her most famous role was Ariel from The Little Mermaid in 1989. Doing plenty other voices for Disney, she knew that voicing a character for an M rated game might not look good, so they hid her name.

There are articles and a short youtube video anyone can search for. Her imdb page has already been updated and MGS3 does look SO out of place with all the rest of her roles.
Anyways, having played the game well over 50 times, my mind was just TOTALLY blown to learn this just now and wanted to make a post about it, as it might blow someone elses mind now.
People are thinking this might be part of Konami's marking/buzz for the new remake currently in the works. Looks exciting, hope it can live up to the original, and without Hideo behind it.

I watched the cast reunion video they just put out and it was confirmed they recorded additional dialogue for the game.

I read that.
Originally they said they weren't going to do that.
But, maybe its things like where they say to hit a certain button, now had to be changed because of new controller layouts.
It sounds like they are doing their best to keep it pretty faithful to the original.
We will see....

I find it funny that her credits is Disney and Kingdom Hearts and then suddenly there is MGS3 and Onimusha 3. KH2 is one of the best action RPGs made and MGS3 is the best MGS and "Bond" game ever made imo so she has great taste lol.

I've been playing a bunch of Space Marine 2, which is a lot of fun, lately. Also going back and finishing Marvel's Midnight Suns, which is weird at first, but the actually gets super fun. It's a shame we won't see a sequel to that game, because it really was well done. But the "card" system of combat is...weird, and I think that weirdness was a barrier to entry for folks. It pays off if you stick with it, but it's a strange system to adapt to.

I got Midnight Suns free on Epic and it's one of those free games I wish I could have paid something. It's that good. I agree the card system is weird at first and I almost quit because it was so different from X-COM. I thought some of the friendship stuff was cheesy and a little out of character for certain characters (mainly Blade and Tony Stark). Otherwise I loved it. I'll get the DLC eventually. I still don't think I totally figured out certain characters (Blade mainly) play styles though. I think it takes a couple playthroughs.

Blizzard surprises with a Warcraft and Warcraft II remaster release today.

I was playing Warcraft 2 running off a website a few weeks ago. Wasn't running very good at all and was thinking it would be nice to have a remaster. Pretty cool this was announced now.

Been cleaning the house, and started replaying Kingdom Hearts 2, bouncing back and forth between them both.
Playing the PS3 remastered version now, as I thought I had long lost the original PS2 version.....and then found it in a blank case whole cleaning. Guess I only lost the case.
I'll have to compare, and see how it all looks off the PS2 with component cables through the RetroTink Pro 2x.

Upcoming 200 player WWI game Over The Top gets a new teaser.

Upcoming RTS D.O.R.F. gets a new teaser showing off unit scaling and how any structure in the game can be garrisoned and fortified by infantry. Really looking forward to a new "classic" style RTS coming.

I think this is the same team that's done at least two previous games in the same mold: Verdun and Tannenberg. They were...kinda fun-ish, but also were a massive grind and tended to be a lot of "I got shot. time to run back to the front to get shot again." In theory, a 200 player game seems cool, but in practice it felt...I dunno...too empty? I tend to prefer a 32-64 player game set in a smaller area. If you want to run "operations," then link maps together, or do what Star Wars Battlefront II did in its Galactic Assault mode.

I'm confused. What does this have to do with Tim Conway?
