The Ultimate X-Wing Pilot Thread

it does take some thinking. and some foot swaps on the sewing machine. if you need anything feel free to ask. if i haven't posted on it before i would be happy to add some details.
More like a small Thor hammer right now... the thing decided it didn't like me when I finished some jabots for something else... I'm going to tear it down and do it's yearly maintenance. Should take a day or so....

I reworked my first belt so that it would accommodate the Rogue One type flares. I also moved the loops back about 1.5" from the belt buckle so it is more along the sides and not in the front. This matches better with my second belt for the OT look, and you can see I have not yet painted the wooden dowel flares yet.

I found a new navy blue flight suit from FarAway Creations and decided i would reverse engineer that for my orange suit that i have collected the fabric for. It was not easy to find good measurements from other suits and know they would fit me, so i bought one my size and i was able to try it on and alter it to fit better.. i tend to order XL in most things, but i like the XL for the space and not the fit. I am not XL on the bottom so i mostly took in the legs and the sides about 3 inches to leave enough space to sit and still offer sufficient room. I also took up about 3 inches on the length since i dont need the legs to go all the way to the floor as the legs will be bloused in the boots. I debated taking in the sleeves, but with the vest and belts on, and the sleeve cuffs cinched at the wrist, the sleeves seem to fit fine. I could always take in an inch or so there if i need in the future.

Sorry the color is all over the place.. i was taking the shots in a room with passive sunlight as well as overhead LED. It was hard to get the camera to register the same in the different places.

I will be posting my construction of my orange suit as i get the various sections going. I am going to start with pocket construction and then move to the main parts. Now that this suit has been altered, i will be using the altered measurements for my orange suit to make the patterns. First i will be working drawing the paper measurements to get it all in one place. My orange suit will not have the elastic belt like this one has on the sides since it will be fully tailored to start with.
enjoy!

My two cents to the cause.

Screen accurate Original Trilogy style. Modeled in Fusion 360. Quite an old project.
