Don't you have shave it down on a lathe to make it look correct?

The Illya Kuryaking gun: The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Illya Kuryakin Gun on Flickr - Photo Sharing! I've seen it used in a few other posters/illustrations, I guess the artist(s) has one in their reference model collection. They are expensive, even the non MFU ones.

There are also many found items on blade runner.
Can i list it here? Its not my findings btw:)

Onigiri, you're probably already aware of this but for the sake of documentation...

From the prop on which I've worked most intently myself, there are the left eyepiece (Copal MXV shutter) and neckbrace which were real-world "found" items that I personally ID'd and found years ago, and also the right side eyepiece which is from, most closely, a Kalimar or Seagull TLR that rpf username Howard discovered and informed me of. Also, there are the Glenross expanders (have never known who actually ID'd them) and the dynode mesh and frame parts that were originated by Kapitein Iglo and honed in by me to the identical ones supplied by Electron Tubes of the UK (now a subsidiary of a company in Texas IIRC). Also, the AM aerial/earth connectors which were positively ID'd by Vos of this board with the help of a colleague of his in the UK.

I dont know if this has been done here before but I thought it would be neat to have a thread devoted to all the found items used for props discovered here on the RPF. How about a thread where we keep this vault of knowledge and discovery and contribution all in one easy to access thread?

I think this is a FABULOUS idea! It's something I've been looking for since I started collecting found items. But ... I would like to see it divided into sections because many found items are weapons and I'm only interested in barware and tableware -- bottles, glasses, plates, etc...things I can actually use -- and I'm also only interested in SciFi/Fantasy (Star Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, Avatar, Harry Potter, et al).

So, yes, it's a good idea, but it needs to be organized. Is there a way to organize posts WITHIN a thread?

Personally, I have about 100 Star Trek found items identified (not by RPF, by me, does that count?), which is too many to add individually to one thread, but I'm happy to share them. Perhaps I should start my own, barware thread....

I've looked for all the bottles and glasses referenced in this forum and had a very hard time finding them. When I do a search on "bottle" hundreds of unrelated threads show up. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated....

I to love found props, and really like "useable" ones. I have a dream to own a home one day, and I would like that home to be furnished largely with stuff seen in movies. :) (ok, it's a huge pipe dream, but hey, a guy can dream. :) )

Unfortunately, bottles, plates, glasses, and the like, are very hard to track down. As you said, there are thousands of them. That's what makes this place great. Allow looking for that stuff you only have one set of eye (yours) looking. Here you have tons of eyes looking for the same thing, all over the world, at the same time. :) And the fact that folks here collect different stuff, and have different day jobs, means where some may have no idea, others my see the items your seeking every day. :) Some folks here actually work in the industry, nad give us inside info.

Yep that's what is great about this place. What can suck about this place is all the times some one starts a thread about stuff, gets you all excited, and then they just post some thing like "I found one", or "I've been given inside info on that item" and then they never post another word in that thread. :( For some they get off on the power of having in info you need, and not giving it to you. Others can't buy law, do to contracts, and I think some just plain forget about the threads, and move on. What ever the reason, it sucks.

My advices it BE ANNOYING. I'm sorry, but if there is a thread out there that has some info about what your looking for, but it has gone dead, before all your answers are met, keep posting, keep probing, keep pushing. Don't be a jerk, but be persistent.

For example a few years ago, a member here went to "China town" and got a lot of the found metal cards used as playing cards in firefly. They weren't 100% accurate, but they were the best anyone could find at the time, and it was nice of him to do it for the boards. I missed out on that though, and a about a year after that thread went dead, I decided I wanted a set. I talked to a few folks and found another member here, that actually knows the head prop guy who worked on firefly. And after bugging him a lot, he was nice enough to go to the actually shop the ones for the show where bout at, and got me one of the most screen accurate sets I have ever seen. :)

So be nice, but be persistent.

Yay, come to think of it, maybe you guys can help me make one of my prop dreams come true.

Sadly I don't have any screen caps to share, but I have been looking for a found chare for years.

I think they are black, probably made of wood, and have very high backs, with no arms.

They where used on Babylon 5, in the room where they meat with all the ambassadors.

They were used in the episode of "Sliders" with the guy that plaid "Freddie". (I for get the name of the episode name)

They were in one of the revenge of the nerd" movies.

One was used in an opining art work for a celebrity home decorating show. (I forget the name of the show, but I do know that htat guy that played "Tom Paris" on "Voyager" was one of the guest showing off his house.)

Similar ones where used around the long dining table, At the old burnt out factory that Angel, Spike, and Drew, hid out in through season 2 of Buffy the vampire slayer.

The list goes on, and on, of the movies, nad TV shows these where used on, and I have wanted one for years.

They kind of look like something you would find at "pear one", but I have looked, and looked there, and places like that, and have found nothing.

Does anyone know where they could be found now a days.

Thanks, Jason, but I think you misunderstood me (or, more likely, I wasn't clear enough). I don't have trouble locating found items, I'm having trouble finding the threads which refer to found item bottles. There's no way to easily zero in on the ones that are truly about bottles and not some other prop.

Even within this thread, you have to read every post to see which show and what items are referenced and I don't have time to read about things I have no interest in. I barely have time to read about things I am interested in!

The threads I did find were very helpful but there were only 2 or three of them. Surely there are others....

Owe that is easy. Start your own threads and just ask. :)

Even if it's been covered before, you should get help with the info your looking for. I mean, sure, there will be folks that post, saying things like "this has been covered before," pr " there is already a thread about that" And fine, if they post a link to those threads, use it, if not, ignore them, and move on with your thread.

Around here, if someone isn't talking about what you want to talk about, you just start your own conversation. :)

I own:
Imco lighter from Indiana Jones
Potate peeler (Dark Knight)
Almost 70% Royce costume from Predators (the costume is about 90% found items)
music box Mad Max 2
HK knife terminator 4
HP cartridge holder from Phantom Menace
Bodum coffee maker from Ghost Writer
Savinelli pipe from Sherlock Holmes

Yes it's the "State of art" episode, a world where the human population has been replaced with androids, a scientist wants to transplant Quinn and Rembrandt's brains into android hosts ;)
