The Tingler - prop replica(got mine yesterday)

Re: Does anyone own this Tingler replica or know how accurate it is?

IIRC, you only saw the thing in silhouette as it crawls in the theater's projection booth and gets projected on to the screen, then the seats would tingle as it crawled through the movie house.

Re: Does anyone own this Tingler replica or know how accurate it is?

There were shots of it crawling on Vincent Price's arm and on his chest.

So are these hard to come by? How much do they sell for?

I suppose I answered my own question. I've looked everywhere and this thing is impossible to find. Apparently there were only 200 made, and I haven't even seen any on eBay. Looks like I'll be adding that to my to-do list. I'll give it a try once I have a chance to go get a large block of modelling clay. The licensed one was about 20" long.

Thanks to a pm from a member, I got one with a good BIN. Once I get it, I'll post pics. I'm still thinking of trying to sculpt one and cast it in rubber. I think that's what the original was - it looks flexible as they walk it around with a string.

Very cool. I love this Vincent Price movie. i wish the gimmicks in the theaters went back to vibrating seats and not 3d lol.

As a kid seeing this on TV, the theater scene creeped me out! I can only imagine the effect of seeing it on the big screen and your seat being vibrated.

I got the Tingler yesterday, with mixed feelings. It's a very cool item. However, mine was damaged in shipping. There is some paint damage from moving around in the box - The seller should have really padded this thing so it couldn't shift. The damage is mostly small spots, but it's noticable. Also, one of the rear antennae has a tip broken off. I found the piece inside the box and should be able to repair it with no problem. My camera batteries are charging right now, but I took some quick pictures with my phone. They're not great, but you should be able to see the damaged antennae - it's the one that is shorter than the other. I don't know if the paint issues are visible or not.
