Just got to see this over the weekend. This is one entertaining movie from start to finish. I’ve been a fan of Aaron Sorkin’s writing since A Few Good Men and his screenplay here is, as expected, sharp and witty. David Fincher’s direction is also above par and is on scale with his best works such as Fight Club and Seven.

The casting is inspired. I’ve seen Jesse Eisenberg’s performances before and I have to say that this is his best work to date. I would say that Eisenberg is definitely a much better actor than the overrated Michael Cera (who plays the same neurotic character in every movie he's in). The rest of the cast does an excellent job too, particularly Andrew Garfield as Eduardo and Armie Hammer who double duties as the Winklevoss twins. But the biggest surprise has to be Justin Timberlake as Napster’s co-founder Sean Parker; he's definitely channeling NPH's Barney Stinson in this movie.

Definitely a Like in my book. :thumbsup

I saw the movie and loved it too. I actually felt bad for eduardo and it was interesting to learn some history about facebook (I am sure some it was hollywoodize).

Also, I am sorry to say this but justin timberlake is a good actor..He isnt amazing, but he holds up pretty well. I watch him in a film called alpha dog and he was decent in the film..I thought he would annoy me but he didnt..

In interviews, he's said it's very "hollywood-ized". Not as exciting as it seems on the big screen.

i saw the film over the weekend with my sister, both of us are big Sorkin fans. Loved the movie and felt i got an inside look into a story I didn't anything about. When we got home did some surfing to see some background info on the film and Mark Zuckerberg had "nothing' to do with the project. and then i came across this blurb about Sorkin which kinda killed the whole experience of the movie we just saw....

The film's screenwriter Aaron Sorkin told New York magazine, "I don’t want my fidelity to be to the truth; I want it to be to storytelling," adding, "What is the big deal about accuracy purely for accuracy’s sake, and can we not have the true be the enemy of the good?"

WTF!!!! I thought I just saw a somewhat true story. I know Hollywood changes things for dramatic effect but I now realize that I just watched a fictional drama for all intensive purposes. Bummed out.

Guess I'm in the minority... I didn't like it at all.

Acting aside (because I liked some of the performances) I didn't feel it really went anywhere. I mean, the story itself is interesting in the sense that it would make a good documentary, but movie material? Not in my book.

The characters relationships felt rushed and I didn't feel as they developed... I felt very little connection to them.

Bored to tears with this one.

I was intrigued by the fact that Andrew Garfield played both parts... I actually hadn't known that and was impressed with how it came across on screen. I had no idea.

Anyways, just giving the opposing view.

Much like other movies supposedly based on true stories, this one dramatizes character interactions for entertainment value, but the general events are based on facts, e.g. the creation of Facemash (after Zuckerberg's breakup), which led to the Winklevoss twins' proposed HarvardConnection and then the creation of Facebook. The book on which the movie is based upon is written from Saverin's POV (Saverin was main consultant) that is why Zuckerberg was portrayed in a somewhat negative light.

Kurt, I think you meant Armie Hammer who played the Winklevoss twins. Technically what you saw on screen were 2 actors; Hammer and Josh Pence. Pence played one of the brothers in scenes where both Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are together, and then after filming was complete Pence’s face was erased replacing it with Hammer’s. But from what I read, Pence actually acted the part and went through everything Hammer went through.

Yes, yes, thank you for the correction. Yep, my friend Doug (westies17) was telling me about that this morning on how he really did act out the two parts and studied the other "body" actor, took notes, etc for when he reshot the scene.

Very impressive, and hard to believe technology has come so far!
