The Running (Hang)man?

I'm interested in seeing what they do. I've heard the book was different and that's the direction they are going with this one. I really like Glen Powell so we'll see.

Maybe I am alone on this one, but I'm not only not excited, but really sad that Edgar Wright decided to give in and do a remake of anything. I don't care if they're "trying to remain closer to the book". The cultural memory of The Running Man is the movie we all know, so if you think they're gonna totally stray from referencing the original you're dead wrong. Why else remake this in today's movie climate? That was the same line for the awful Total Recall remake. For a guy who used to champion his original films and who refused to remake other classics (John Landis personally asked Wright to remake American Werewolf) it is kind of a bummer to see he's doing this project. Glenn Powell is the most bland leading man we've had for some time and I could say more about other cast members from personal experience but I digress... I know the industry is in the crapper but seeing the dude who gave us the The Cornetto Trilogy falling in line with the Hollywood standard is lame.

I’m a little iffy in this one. I mean, it’s directed by Edgar Wright, but something about the trailer fills me with doubt.

I have the book on my list to read. But the original is one of those classic 80s Arnold movies. I watched the trailer to this new one, something I rarely do, and it didn't hook me.

Yeah me neither. I'm willing to give it a chance because I think Glen Powell is one of the few younger good actors. I haven't read the original book though, only the first movie.

I don't know if I heard that the book was good or just different. But there are a few movie sci-fi books that I have on my list to read because they were books first and I'm just curious. Stuff like Blade Runner and Total Recall.

I first saw Glen Powell in the Scream Queens TV show. It was only two seasons but really funny and worth checking out if you haven't seen it.

The Arnie version is 40 years old. It's not an A-list pop culture icon (despite having 1980s Arnie + 1980s Verhoeven). It's unrecogizable from the book. I fail to see the problem with remaking it.

As for the trailer? I dunno. I can't see Glen Powell as anything other than Hangman. That's not the character from the book and it's not somebody that I want to watch for 2 hours.
