Been wanting this for quite a while, and wasn't even necessarily looking for it, but happened across it on eBay.

My fellow old-schoolers should know this one right away, especially those that know me fairly well!

$42, and an original is available on Propstore right now for $420...

Yep... You're on a need to know basis, and you don't need to know.

    The Rock is it...

The image is a bit misleading as it appears the prop folks on the picture modified the doll a bit. The screen-used version has a different skirt (some form of green and gold shiny yarn), and the removable top is gone and her * are simply painted with a red halter top.

Other than that, its basically identical.

Re: Huge eBay Score - The Rock

Didn't "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." 's Chloe Bennet have a hula girl on the dashboard of her van?

It also reminds me of James Garner's character Tank. He had a hula doll as well and brought it with him on the space shuttle. It gets some screen time during the re-entry sequence in the film.

See...? There you go. There are SO many different varieties of these little hula dolls from many decades. So very cool to find the correct one!

Showing a bit of modesty - she put her top back on. But it needs another layer. Still a bit see-through.

I also have to pain the leaves a mint green, then all done.

She ended up being 75%-90% screen accurate...

I suffered what we all do - absent or conflicting reference images.

Propstore has sold two of these dolls now and, understandably, each are subtly different in their finish (though the same mold). Also, both show wear from age and abuse. In the screen caps, its difficult to make out detail based on the shots, and the action of the scene (burning the doll). So I did "my version", which brings more than just the essence of the doll - it clearly is what it is. But its not 100% accurate to either doll sold by Propstore.

On the screen-used pieces, ether the factory skin tone was lighter, or the prop dudes painted her skin, as well as the top. I left mine the original, darker olive tan of the true Polynesian beauty she is.

The skirt on mine came out as a more evenly dispersed pattern of alternating green and gold, and the attachment points of each strand is slightly different. And the light green paint on the leaves of the base on mine is a light olive, not a true mint, so its slightly darker on mine too.

The Tamiya Red I used for the top is too glossy, so yeah - she's got shiny *!

Finally, the red flower on her head is a bit more to one side on mine.

And of course, I chose not to duplicate all the wear and tear.
