The Phantom (syfy)

Is anyone else going to watch it ? I've seen it already seen it. (one of the VERY few perks of living in Brazil). I thought the costume was gonna ruin it for, but once I saw the direction the show went, It didn't really bother me. What I didn't like was the maner in which the Singh Brotherhood portrayed. Overall I actually kind like it. Sure It's not Billy Zane but at least we're getting something.

i'l def watch it, not expecting much but i loved the billy zane version! such a good movie!

I didn't even know it was supposed to be the same character! I thought they just ripped off the name!

I caught the end of a comercial for it the other night and wondered if this was one of those "reimagined" travesties we all love so much! LOL!

Waaaaaaaaaa, didnt even know that this was in developement, BIlly zane rules, and he is the best phantom.

I just watched the trailer, dont like the new outfit, I like the twist that they seem to have given to the story, so this new kid is the 22nd phantom.

Here is the trailer just in case that there is a loose cannon like myself:

Will give it a try, but I dont expect much!

Thx for the info.

Watching the show as I type this... so I haven't seen the end of it yet.

I'm not too fond of the whole suit thing. Seems too Batman Beyond to me, but the show could have some possibilities if this backdoor pilot went to a series. I like the story behind it all... just a bit of a dragged out origin film. Though it's not just the Phantom they're establishing... they're also establishing the Singh Brotherhood. It is a bit too techy at times... guess that's why it's on SyFy.
We do see a purple suit that past Phantoms wore. So we could see past Phantoms done through flashbacks (period pieces at that) and they could all be played by the same guy since they're supposed to look so much like their fathers. The show could really tap into the whole fact that the Phantom is a legacy hero.

True I like the Billy Zane version (which I haven't watched in awhile), but I think I liked it so well because it was a period piece (the whole 30's thing). Now I need to buy the Blu-ray... don't feel like digging out the VHS version. Also want to get the Phantom 2040 dvd. Guess the show has revived my interest in the Phantom... Not that I really lost it, but I've been focusing on other things.

Batman Beyond rocked! I watched the first half and acouple minutes of the second, I actually liked it more than I thought I was going to, camp, yes, but still watchable in my opinion, and after seeing the suit in the show it looks alot better than the trailers and still shots make it out to be.

I got it recorded on my parents DVR. Gonna burn it to DVD. The only reason why I plan on watching it is because Sandrine Holt, my favorite actress, is in it.

I tried to watch it and fell asleep.

The suit reminded me wayyy too much of the Daredevil suit in Trial of the Incredible Hulk... :lol

I gave it a couple episodes and it just did nothing for me. It is gaining a following I am hearing so will wait and see.

Watched it. It's a bit better than what I expected. But its still not great. If they made it into a weekly series, I'd only watch it if Sandrine Holt was still playing the character. If she wasn't, then I probably wouldn't watch it.

liked the theme overall--not so much the costume--they could have done better with the whole football/hockey mask eyeshield thing--pretty cheesy I thought. The rest of the costume wasnt bad and I liked the way they integrated his city jumping into it.
And yes his redheaded girlgfriend is hot.

Way better than "Flash Gordon". "Assassination at 11:38 ?" Hummm...

I liked how the original suit was depicted, but do find the new suit too techy. They could have played a bit more with the colours, though the purple woolen hat he wears in "civilian mode" is a nice tip to the ... woolen... hat, I guess ;)

I am not sure what to make of that female "Guran", though, and the skull cave could have been a bit bigger, as well as the graves of his ancestors. There was a reason why in the originals the skulls were placed in little alcoves around the tomb, as a remainder of the history of the "ghost who walks".

The function of the ring of evil was introduced quite nicely when he punched the assassin and marked him, as was the choreography of the fight itself.

I´d watch additional episodes, no doubt.
