The PEPAKURA question thread - PLEASE READ RULES IN FIRST POST!

Ok I think having links in your signature is a "Premium" Perk as in both pictures you have the icon to add a link aswell as images, and I don't :(

Not sure... but I've had links in my signature since way before I was ever a premium member.

So I'm working on my first Pep build (it's not a full build, rather bits and pieces from various armour sets) and so far I've finished the fibreglass coat and the interior rondo. Now, I heard that for wearable costumes fibreglass reinforced bondo is better for the rondo mix, so that's what I've used. My question is, should I continue to use the fibreglass reinforced bondo for the exterior? Or should I swap to just standard bondo. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm currently building my Mark 42 out of foam, but I'm having trouble how to make the handplate moveable. Where should I cut? What do I put underneath while still keeping articulation?

Any help would be appreciated.

On the outside you want to use the WEAKEST stuff you can, so normal body filler. You're going to be sanding it smooth...the sturdier it is, the more difficult that is to do. It's also clumpier, so harder to apply thinly as well. (I don't do rondo, I prefer actual fiberglass cloth + resin, and this is the reason you only do that on the inside of a piece: you'd be sanding it for weeks.)

Alright cool, thanks a lot!

Hey guys, can someone pls explain me one thing... so im making this helmet from the picture, and i'm kinda confusing, so on this picture i have the dark blue and light blue lines, do these lines said from which side i need to cut, so dark blue i need to cut from the side my picture is printed on paper, and the ligh blue from the other side?
It's kinda strange when you look, because the helmet is folding on the outer side, not iner, do you think this is wrong or what?

I had a helmet someone had created inside out. Turned out just fine

Just to give you an idea here is the helmet that someone made inside out. If you look closely at the second pic you can see the fold lines. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1405234559.835389.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1405234581.498716.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1405234606.585164.jpg

Hi all. I know you guys are probably sick of iron man suits, but I'm trying to use JF custom's foam files for my build and I'm having issues with the templates. I've been searching for a couple of hours now and I'm sure the information is out there, but it would be quicker to just ask and get to building. The issue is with the alignment marks, but it may be related to my paper settings, I don't know. I'm using what I understand to be letter size paper - 8.5" x 11" and I want to make a hard suit, so I'm intending to use cardboard, not foam.

Ok... to the point. When I print the templates, I'm using regular paper. The only alignment marks that show up are horizontally. There are no vertical alignments at all. So like in JF's post (http://www.therpf.com/f24/jfcustoms-foam-files-148889/) when he shows you how to align the paper:

pdotape01.jpg

I only end up with two marks and the whole bottom half of the template has nothing for me to align. When I'm in designer, it shows this for alignment marks:

But despite what it shows, the vertical mark show in pages 1 and 9 doesn't show. Also all of the pieces that carry over to pages 10-16 have nothing at all on them to align them.

I can obviously fit them together from where one stopped printing to the next, but I'm not sure if this is correct and I don't want to screw up the scale or appearance of the armor.

If anyone can help me, I would be appreciative. I am getting tired of wasting paper with no results. I am a long time lurker and this is one of the first projects I've tried on my own. I have experience with metal working and I've done fiberglassing in automotive applications, so I have experience with the procedures and tools, but I'm just learning this program. It would actually be way easier for me to build an iron man suit out of metal, tbh, given my skill set.

Ok, I guess I was in a hurry and didn't read that correctly.. The green lines in the image aren't the alignment marks, they're arrangement lines. I don't know what those are, but I don't think they're related to my problem. I'm not getting the alignment marks (crosshairs) to show up properly. It could be my paper settings I don't know. I went into the printer setup and it's set for letter paper and so is pepakura designer. I even tried choosing "other" and putting in the specific size off the paper package (216mmx279mm). It could be a problem with print margins, but I don't know where to look or what they should be.

If someone doesn't understand what I mean I can scan one that I've printed and post it here for a sample. In the meantime I am trying to read all 95 pages of JF's foam thread to see if it was addressed by anyone else. Then I guess I'll try reading the 67 pages here. Takes a while. If someone knows how to fix this, I would be grateful.

Found the answer on page 87 of JFCustom's Foam Files thread after a LOONG time reading. The problem (as I was beginning to suspect) was indeed the margins. They need to be set in Pepakura Designer to something between 10-15mm in the print settings screen. Just in case anyone else is having this problem. Hopefully I will be able to begin getting some progress on my suit now.

10mm, and then test print.

Hello all. I am seeking help. I am working on a female cyborg from teen titans. Not doing sexy, just cyborg as if he was a she. So i am trying to rework an iron man suit to fit the needs since they are similar. I am using the pepper potts rescue suit but am having a hard time figuring out how to size it up. I am 5ft 11. Does anyone mind helping me?

grab pep designer, you can measure distances on the model an obviously match them as best you can to your own body, do this for each individual piece rather than using a specific scale for the whole set
