Hey gang. Newbie with Pepakura here. I want to do an Ironman Mark III helmet. I got the software and the files, I'm trying to figure out the scaling and piece layout on paper, and I just wanted to be sure I'm on the right track here.
The attached image shows the piece placement with several of the larger pieces spanning multiple pages. Scaling is set at 1.52, which I am told is correct for someone 5'-10" to 6'.
I assume the parts layout is correct, and that larger parts must span multiple pages. Do I assume correctly?

Yes & No. Designer has a tool to allow you to split or join sections. you can split large sections so they fit onto one page, however, it usually isnt worth it. if an item is just slightly larger than the its usually just better to rotate it.

You'll probably want to also use the select+move feature (same menu) as well for starters, to adjust your pieces after rotating. The join-disjoin feature will allow you to split pieces up to fit to a page size, but that's a bit more complicated. Turn on 2D MENU>Check Overlapping Parts while you're adjusting to keep from stacking parts on top of each other. If you goof up on a part adjustment on the 2d side, you can cntrl-z to back up through your last few changes. Good luck!
To rotate the view, hold the right mouse button down while in the 3d view box. Moving the mouse will spin the pieces.
You cannot move the imported parts independently, i.e. move the cod closer or farther away from the chest piece. Those changes would have to be made outside of Pepakura (in modeling software, etc.)
You don't need a special printer. You can print Pepakura files on all different kinds of paper sizes by changing settings in the software. The two most common sizes are letter (8.5x11) and A4. A bigger concern would be the thickness of paper you are trying to work with. Foam templates can be printed on regular old office paper, but if you are building from paper (such as thicker card stocks) , your printer may or may not have problems handling it. I print on #110 cardstock with a regular Epson and HP without too many problems, but you'll have to experiment with yours to be sure. Good luck!

I just completed my first Pep file, Boba Fett's chest armor. I started from the left side and worked my way across. You can find where each piece goes by clicking on the 2D pieces and they will highlight on the 3D.
