The THICKEST cardstock your printer can handle. I bought an Epson Stylus T13 recently because it can handle the thickest cardstock(180grams) amongst all the other printer in the same price range. Those which can print thicker than 180 grams would cost 2 to3 times the amount.
I usually glue big pieces of the patterns onto 360 gram cardstock to make them more rigid so that the assembled piece would maintain its shape. I leave small patterns and patterns that need to be bent a lot untouched so that they're easier to work with.
