The PEPAKURA question thread - PLEASE READ RULES IN FIRST POST!

Re: advice on files please folks!

do you have the viewer ?? its the viewer that you use to construct the item and print it, the main reason to have the designer is the rescale and unfold the pep if it hasnt aslready been done, apart from that you shouldnt need the designer. and i didnt have it for about 2 months and only had the viewer and it all worked great 4 me, have no idea why it would be an issue

cheers mate, yeh i have the veiwer, its doing my head in.when i click on the ironman files it just says this file is empty, ive givin up on trying anymore.

I'm pretty sure you can rescale and unfold using the viewer. The only bonus you get with the designer is the ability to save and import/export. Otherwise everything is there for you to use.

I am unfolding Dung0beetle's Dr. Doom pep, how do I change the size?

2D Menu; Change Scale; Scale Factor

Whatever number is currently there is the default scale value. Increasing that number increases the size, and visa versa.

The dimensional size can be found in the bottom right corner of the window given as HxWxL and is usually in millimeters.

If you take the scale value and the current size dimensions you should be able to do a little math and calculate what value you need to get a specific dimension. Or just use trial and error.

One tip, remember that changing the scale changes all dimensions. You can't increase the width without increasing the height and length as well. When most people try to increase the size they tend to increase too much.

Few people get the scaling right on the first try, just fyi

I would lie the mask to dit me right, the iker scout that ive been building is too big for me, I think im still going to finish the project and either sel the bucket and armor or just keep it for display, are there any experts outhere that can resize it for me?

Your best bet is to re-pep it with the right scaling. Now that you have done it once you should have a pretty good idea what the scale should be. It would be nice if someone could measure one of the screen used buckets. Even so, I bet your pep will be even better after a second go because you'll have all that experience! :)

So................... need advice.
Do you "designers" think its possible to modify this file by smoothing out the EAR and the EDGE that seperate the front and back of the head?
Ive highlighted those areas in orange.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Trying to smooth it out as much as possible.
If its not "doable" please let me know so I can stop trying.
If you think you could do this........... please feel free to help me out.
Been attempting to get this project going for a couple weeks now.
Im looking for it to be 300mm in height.
Thankyou so much for any help.

the height is easy to change but as far ar smoothing it out, I dont know, maybe Dung0beetle knows how.

You need the designer for that. The designer is free, but you can't save any altered file unless you have the product key/passcode.

i have designer(no product key),could i flip it then just print it,saving it dosent matter or wont it let you even print without saving it?

Yes you can flipand print, just can't save.

Goto '2D Menu' in Designer, and click 'Invert Pattern'.

You will need to reposition the pieces after flipping as they would normally be in a mess after flipping.

The THICKEST cardstock your printer can handle. I bought an Epson Stylus T13 recently because it can handle the thickest cardstock(180grams) amongst all the other printer in the same price range. Those which can print thicker than 180 grams would cost 2 to3 times the amount.

I usually glue big pieces of the patterns onto 360 gram cardstock to make them more rigid so that the assembled piece would maintain its shape. I leave small patterns and patterns that need to be bent a lot untouched so that they're easier to work with.

Hope that helps.
