The PEPAKURA question thread - PLEASE READ RULES IN FIRST POST!

There was a posting some guy made about how to rotate the actual image itself in the Pepakura designer but he never had the question asked because he figured it out... How the heck do I rotate the 3D image so I can see where my lil' paper cut out pieces connect... it's hard to put a puzzle together when you can only see one side of the picture...

with your arrow over the 3D image, you have to right click and hold while you move the mouse/trackpad to rotate the image. cheers :)

Haa I see. Well I'll go ahead and tell you now that patience is a virtue with this stuff... It is time consuming but well worth it. Many people never finish a project, so try not to get frustrated just yet

The only reason i'm frustrated is because I can not find a template that I can use... I can't hardly deal with that pepakura... way to much and I tried one thing an it came out like crap... it's easier for me to get 2d projects and trace them... then go from there

I've done a search on casting here and haven't seen much in the ways of tutorials. To those of you who do this on a regular basis, do you all make glove molds or is there a better method? What are the most common casting materials used?

One of my search hits pointed to the Smooth-On YouTube channel, which I'll check out and I found this as well:
Tutorial: How to make a glove mold

Is this a good tutorial?

Hey all, I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to anywhere.
I'm building an Iron Man helmet with a Pep file from xrobotics, and I'm having trouble with Mountain and Valley folds. I have mountain folds down (easily, because they're the majority of the fold) but on some pieces it just doesn't make sense.

The pictures indicate which piece it is, and where I am stuck in the fold, and detailing my frustration. How should I go about doing this? The fold looks awkward and doesn't really give me room to tape it.

Thanks all!

Take the tape. Throw it out the window.

SUPERGLUE is your friend. Glue one tab at a time, starting from the innermost tab.

Okay, so I may seem dumb but I still don't understand the concept. I did, however, throw out the tape. Superglue helped a ton! I was using painters tape, too. Anyways, you pair the numbers up (i.e. 100 to 100) on mountain folds, which I understand perfectly. Whereas when you do a valley fold, the tab is underneath the paper on the other side, making it impossible to pair up the numbers. Is that how you do it? Because it creates a "cliff" where the paper sticks out.

The tab always goes underneath, and you line up the numbers just as you would the mountain folds. The crease should just go inward instead of outward.

I'm not really sure where you get this "cliff" from.

Okay, seems simple enough now. Thanks a bunch for your help!

Hello All, I am a new member and I wanted to say hello, but at the same time I have a question that has been eating at me, even when I sleep. this is my first time doing pep and I want to make a pep helmet, and eventually make a mold for future use. Please tell me if I am going right direction:
get pep, resin with epoximite and fiber cloth, bondo, sculpt detail in bondo, sand, rebound-25, plasti-past, smooth-cast? Any help would be appreicated...just trying none hard chemicals.

Also, what is the best or easiest way to making parts: foam with pva and smooth-cast, or resin, fiberglass, bondo? Which is best for continuing to making molds?

Hello! We are trying to find unfolded pepakura files for Dead Space 2 Advanced Armor. Does anybody have said files & can we get a hold of some? That would be most appreciated since we've had no success in finding them online.

You'll need to have a Google Drive account to access (don't worry, it's free)

Hi, new member here, lurking for awhile. First off i'd like to say that this is an amazing site. I have a question about scaling, can I use the same methods from tutorials i've read and apply it to a pep Optimus Prime head I plan on doing? I currently printed out the file using pep viewer but didn't scale it with designer yet...so far its obviously too small.

hi all!! i was wondering if anyone have a cyber subzero full pep armor i've search the net but nothing :unsure i have the helmet is unfolded but i think needs a better unfold
