But seriously, what has he ever written (besides maybe "Electronic Labyrinth THX 1138 4EB") that wasn't either inspired by his own life ("American Graffiti") or by other myths, legends and/or movies ("Willow," "Raiders," et al)?
Eh, I'm not going to get worked up about this. If it's true, it's what I've come to expect. If it's a hoax, it's a pretty good one.

Because they're not changing the essence of the movies. The characters are the same, the story is the same... it's just enhancing it. (I will buy into the Han shot first argument).
Would I buy the original? Yes. Am I going to buy this? Yes.
This isn't the same to me as the bastardized Superman we appear to be getting. This is Lucas' movie, it's his vision... this isn't some third, fourth or fifth party altering it years down the road. This is what Lucas is opting to do to his property, he has no obligation to cater to small (but vocal) group.
Frankly all this crying about a "Nooo" and a Ewok blink gives us all bad names. It's silly and just moronic how some of us make mountains out of molehills and whine about the pettiest things. He didn't change Vader's costume in ANH to match Episode III or even ESB's... he didn't remove Luke and Leia kissing to remove the incest element... he didn't clothe Chewie because someone figured out he was walking around nude for four movies. Frankly, we could be getting a whole lot worse... and there's too much bellyaching over stupid things.

You complain about the bashing taking place in every other thread. I can understand where your coming from with that.
However this clearly is a "bash Lucas" thread. No two bones about it. No hidden surprise here. It's clearly laid out in the title. You didn't have to read it. You certainly didn't have to post in it.
Face it- you can't help yourself. You want to read about the whining so you can tell us in your usual way to stop.

It isn't about hating for crying out loud. :eek It is about changing the essence of a scene. Its quite simple. The act of not saying anything in this scene and being led by Vaders visual cues made it...for me...very powerful. Now its changed. Will I stop eating cereal in the morning? No. Will I hang my head low as I go through my day tomorrow. No. But what a dam shame. There is hope though....it could be a fan made video. Guess we will find out soon enough.

Sometimes negativity is called for. Not all the time, but this is a fine example.
I choose not to buy it if it has those changes. And the argument that the fanboys are somehow less than Lucas because they have no money, then I have to seriously question the intent of the person who actually believes that. That would imply that being rich means you are a better person.
I'm not saying that my anger at Lucas ruining his own creation will make a damn difference at the end of the day, but I still am entitled to my opinion.
In the end, one can hope that Lucas will come to his senses and give the fans what they've been asking for: the restored original trilogy (unaltered theatrical versions) on BluRay - or whatever format has the best sound and picture quality.
But sadly, we likely won't.
I'm not saying that my anger at Lucas ruining his own creation will make a damn difference at the end of the day, but I still am entitled to my opinion.

He has release the movie like 5 times now or more on different formats and guess who keeps buying them over and over again? FOR WHAT!! , Better sound? better picture? Well you got it, stop whining. You want the "original story" Go get the old VHS tapes (before SE)
You can't get everything at the same time.
I have a recorded episode 4 vhs tape made in 84. That is the one i have grown up with and i love it more than the DVD version. It might be scratched, have crappy sound, REALLY crappy picture on my 50 inch tv, but it's the one i have grown up with.

I don't currently own a single copy of a Star Wars movie. I used to on VHS, but I don't have anything else. I don't want my memories ruined.
I think the biggest annoyance for everyone is that he CAN release the version that the fans have been asking for, but he WON'T. Sure we have the laserdisk transfers, or the VHS copies, but it would be nice to see it properly restored.
And that is the biggest reason why people are mad.
