The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans - PICS ADDED

Re: The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans

Yep, I got the Theoden sword a couple of weeks ago for $78 and no shipping... I was curious about their swords as some of the others were not looking that good, but the Theoden sword was much better than I thought, made well, and very sturdy.. I highly recommend it!

Cool, Rob! Yeah I ordered up the Theodin and the IJ machete...

Re: The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans

I picked up Theodin's sword too. I think it's as good as any of the UC stuff. I love mine. Can't go wrong for the price.
Cheers, Kevin

Re: The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans

Thanks for the heads-up.
Just bought the sword (and a few other items . . . can never buy just one thing at the Noble Collection website).

Re: The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans

I have a couple NC LOTR swords, and although accuracy leaves something to be desired, craftsmanship seems to be great. Cant beat em at a sale price!

Re: The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans

Did they arrive Rob?? I'm curious about the IJ sword

on a side note:
I found an ebay seller who has the Boromir sword in stock and just had to order it!

Re: The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans

Thanks for the heads-up PHA! :):thumbsup

Side-by-side Pics would be sweet, if anyone wants to throw 'em up :sick

Re: The Noble Collection sale - IJ/LOTR fans

Does the IJ have his signature like that one that came out years ago? At least this time it LOOKS more like the one he used.

OK, here we go...

I received (in order of how impressed I was) the IJ Machete, the sterling silver version of The One Ring, and Theodin's sword.

The machete is really pretty damn cool. The ring is nice, but were I to do it again, I'd go with the gold, and likely save my money for a higher quality version/maker. The LOTR sword is nice, and yes, well built. But it left me thinking of Factory X.

Here are the pics and more details.

First, the sword. Seems short. If I were a king in battle, I'd clearly want a longer reach. The wooded handle/grip was a lighter tone wood than I hoped/expected, and overall small. The "gold" has a definite greenish hue. The blade is solid; short, but robust and has a really nice "feel".

The One Ring - Sterling Silver Version.

Quite nice. Comes in a wooden, velvet-lined presentation box that includes the English translation of the Elvish script. The gold plating on the ring is nice, but lacks just a smidgen of the richness of solid gold. I don't like the Elvish on the ring, but that is how it comes.

One thing I'd hoped for that wasn't "there", and bear with me as this is hard to explain in words. One thing I really like about the design of the film version is that in cross-section, I don't think there are any sharp edges; that not only is the upper half of the cross-secion rounded over, but the lower half of the cross-section (or the inner diameter of the ring) is too. On this replica, the inner surface of the ring (which makes contact wth your finger) is more flat, and forms more of a hard edge than the film version. Make sense...?

Pics are not good - difficult item to photograph well.

That's the cheapo eBay version with the light-up base, by the way, laying next to the NC version.

OK... The machete is pretty cool. My favorite of the batch. The presentation is beautiful. It carries the warmth and comfort of Indiana Jones perfectly, and is subtle, and elegant.

Of particularaly cool note is that the blade is helde tot he display magnetically! Never seen that done before, and it is really cool! Check the pics!

The machete itself - can't say much about it because I have no complaints. Idealized compared to the hero prop that sold recently, but done so properly.

For those who don't know, UC is now going to be selling Isildur's sword, and the Morgul blade of the Witchking. I just saw them in a catalog that they sent me.
