The Noble Collection Da Vinci Bank Key: corroding of the goldplating???

I did buy a Da Vinci Bank Key a few years ago from Noble Collection. I noticed that the goldplating is all dull, like it corroded or something. I tried polishing it to a shine again, but in that process, much of the goldplating just vanished, so now it seems as if the complete key is silvery. I bought another one on eBay as a replacement, but also that one (it was a sealed copy still in it's original packaging) had dull gold parts.

I'm really disappointed with this poor quality of Noble and wanted to hear if there are other people here ho have this key and if they have the same problem. I'm now considering taking the key apart (take off de fleur de lis and actual keypart) and have the cross part goldplated as it should be, and then assemble everything again.

So let's hear if you have the same problem or not, and what you think about it...

I posted this in the below link. In that thread I talk a bit about the Bank Key, then the Cryptex and then again a lot on the bank key.

I also picked up a Bank Key but was very upset to receive it with most the gold plating on the upper section rubbed off. I emailed and asked what was up and asked for an exchange. They agreed to exchange it but I had to pay shipping. That pissed me off to no end but I did it and received another Bank Key that was just as badly finished.

Well The Nobel Collection has a habit of being less than honest as they often show pictures of their products that look more accurate than what you receive. Silly as their stuff is very nice. The Grapple Gun and Batarang are good examples.

Well in this case they should have known more about their own pieces as should I. Turns out it's supposed to be like that. In the film the real prop has most the gold rubbed off as it's supposed to be very old. Ooops. Sorry

Update-A few years later I had to get yet another one and it came completely finished in nice gold plating. It was flawless and nice shiny gold, however it is also now rubbing off, or really just coming off. It's okay as noted the real prop had most the gold rubbed off.

I wish I had it on Blue Ray to really show it.

It's possible that the key has the gold plating rubbed off in the movie, but I would have liked the bank key to stay in the state it was when I bought it, so that the goldplating didn't start corroding...

Does somebody know some other good replica of this bank key? This one also has the little blade on the back to use it as a letter opener. You can remove it, but still have the part on the back where the blade screws onto the key...

I looked all over and the Key/Letter opener was the only one that was close to the real prop. There was a necklace that was way small and I think a nice Real gold or Platinum plated or something that went for $300 or $400. I have no idea what size it was.

Anyone else know of anything?
