Interesting, my Folmer Graflex has a similar chrome finish to it (less "brushed" looking). Makes sense that this would be earlier in production as everything going forward had the more typical brushed finish to it. I sometimes wonder if we could attribute this more chrome look to the type used for the RotJ Vader stunt style? That is often seen as having a shinier finish to it.

Its possible as the Folmer Graflex Flash I have in-hand all have a chrome looking finish, with the latest one I picked up being the stand out with its chrome looking shinny finish.

Thanks Markus there is some beautiful vintage flashes in the collection, it's taken some serious hunting to put the collection together, I am kind of proud that the bulk of the flashes will be kept & displayed as found, a real little time capsule for the future :)

Its fascinating to see the evolution of the "telegraph" to the "red button with beer tab". One could imagine a timelapse of the various vintages morphing from one into another.

Very nice Ian! Love the group shot. Have you posted that on the Graflex Addicts page?

I bet Matt would make that the banner if you submitted it.

Yeah it's amazing to look at the slight changes and just how much of the original design remained unchanged from the 1928 "Telegraph" Folmer Graflex to the end of production in 1956 Graflex Inc.

Vintage Hales No3 MK1 Rifle Grenade Restoration Project

I hunted these 4x vintage Hales No3 MK1 Rifle Grenades last year, I plan to keep the best 2x for my Real Parts Obi Build and Display Hales.

The condition of the Hales vary and whilst there are no heavily rusted bodies some of the brass is corroded and I wanted to get the bodies cleaned up & re-blued and all the brass fittings cleaned and re-fitted.

I decided after watching Dustin newmagrathea Hales Restoration Video Series and chatting with him, Dustin was the guy for the project, we intend to do before & after photos along with videos and I think Dustin may do a project thread.

I am bloody excited to get another step closer to complete my Real Parts Obi Build :D

Now where is that Female BP ;)

I say just hunt a Rolls-Royce Derwent engine. That way you'll get a bunch of IG-88 heads AND balance pipes ;)

I got lucky and found a very helpful Dealer who was able to help me out, I am sure I could have supplied everyone who wanted a Hales if not for the new UK/EU laws :(

I wish I could Markus, unfortunately the Dealer that was helping me is UK based and because of the new laws has stopped dealing in items now restricted under the new laws :( I have not seen any Hales listed since the new laws :(

What are the new restrictions Ian? Are they as stringent even if already in the UK? Not currently looking, but if they've made it so hard then I may cancel my future plans...

Big fines and jail time for the sellers.

That’s why I only buy antique candlestick holders.

As I understand from the Dealer the restrictions apply to sending outside of the UK, I have not researched the new laws so if you live within the UK you should follow up locally, hope that helps.

I got a "candlestick holder" and "antique tractor parts" shipped to the US no problem....but that was before January 1st, I think that is when the law changed, correct? Which is too bad, I was hoping to upgrade my grenade at some point...and this may really hurt my chances for a booster too :(.

    Vintage MPP Silver Bar Clamp

I just picked up this vintage MPP Silver Bar Clamp in nice condition, this will make an awesome addition to my vintage MPP Microflash collection & build which I hope to add to this year, all the credit to this amazing find goes to Jerry trooper with them oldman eagle eyes who spotted this amazing clamp in a not so obvious place.

I also need to thank Chris teecrooz & Andy mugatu for their expert help in confirming the clamp was a genuine vintage MPP Microflash Clamp.

    Vintage MPP awesomeness :D

I've had a weird knack for finding obscure and rare items myself. Not just star wars pieces either. I think it comes down to hardheadedness and insufferable hours spent on google. So I respect this thread a lot

I spend my free time doing it. I can't speak for others, but sometimes I may get on a searching stint and next thing I know it's 4AM and I realized I gotta be at work in a few hours. Just happens.

As for money? I don't make much at all, but then again, I am personally (in regards to the prop items I am after) not looking for what would be very expensive items. The original thermostat pieces I actually didn't pay for. The 2 Sinisalo BMX protective chest pieces that was used for the Mortal Kombat 3 video game's Sektor/Cyrax costumes were $25 each. I even sourced the only found item for Sektors/Cyrax's helmet, a Smith BMX facemask that was in like Norway for some reason, which took a year to identify and actually locate. I think that was only like $50. Aside from an original pair of Loubsol ski goggles + replacement lens, the most expensive "found" item were the First Order Snowtrooper boots (Yes, I shamelessly take credit for identifying those boots first after it was revealed in Anaheim.)

But I'm not looking for uber expensive things. Parts like I mentioned above are generally already inherently cheap at retail. It's only once these folks realize what they actually mean to people like us do we see them raise prices. The first order snowtrooper boots are a good example. The white versions are very hard to find. I found them for about $150 at the time, and shortly after it became more common knowledge, the same vendor doubled the prices of his remaining stock.

One day I pray to come across a booster. I fully expect when I do come across one, it'll be with the help of someone from The RPF. Everything I've been able to get, has been because of wonderful people here.
My best score was a Russian camera (it had a part needed for my Chewbacca Bowcaster). The camera - INCLUDING SHIPPING FROM RUSSIA - was $13.

I don't see OdiWan72 , The Ninja , or any of the others who have very impressive hunting/collecting skills as "opponents". I see them as inspirational, because it shows these gems are still out there to be found. If anything, I'm in awe of them :notworthy:
