Gone but not forgotten.
So, there were some cool props in the latest Christmas special - but I'm more interested in Morrisey's devices he used when he became "the doctor". I found this on the bay

but I'm not sure if it's the right one.

Also - any info on the data canisters used in the show - found objects or scratch built?

Close but no match.

Here are 2 screenshots of his "Sonic" Screwdriver.
"It makes noise! That's sonic isn't it!" ... LOL

Thanks Neill :thumbsup, loved the special and they're really great props, wish I could afford the Cyberleader.

Curiosity question here, why did you guys decide to use a slightly re-painted unlit (shame as I liked it lit) Cybercontroller as the Cyberleader this time instead of a standard Cyberman head with the same new style colour scheme?

Russell had specified in the script that it was like the Cyber Controller but with the black handlebars of the Leader. I think the thinking was that the black handlebars alone didn't stand out enough making it hard to distinguish the Cyberleader sometimes form the regular Cybermen.

I suggested bringing the black paint scheme across the face to further distinguish it and everyone liked that.

Leaving out the eye and brain lights, again, was just a way of distinguishing it from the original Cybercontroller as, seeing it in silhouette, you might think it was the original Controller and this could confuse the viewer and confuse the plot also.

The Brain visible with the extended black paint scheme and no lights seamed like the least confusing way to present a 'new' CyberLeader.

Cheers

Thanks for answering that Neill :). It's interesting sometimes to see what the design choices were on something like this and just why they were made.

Hats off Neil - GREAT design. Unfortunately I'm going to have to sell another script to be able to afford the cyberleader! :lol Wonderful stuff in that special.

Agreed, I loved the leader design, and the slight change in their voices was also a welcome change, Neill can you shed any light on why the wrist mounted Cyber Guns weren't used? I assumed it would be because the Cybermen weren't running at full power or something like that? I prefer the old death by electrocution anyway :lol Great work as always mate, looking forward to the 2009 specials and more Torchwood! :thumbsup

Neill,
Sorry to derail, but not really....any word on the sonic srewdrivers?

Naturally we had hoped to hasve them ready to release with the relaunch of the www.MFXWarehouse.co.uk website but it didn't work out.

Unfortunately these things are tricky to get done. I know I'll get a barage of criticism from every armchair critic who will tell you it's easy to do and we're somehow just messing with the fans not having them on the market yet but believe me I'd like nothing better than to have them available for you right this second. There's a hundred and one issues to resolve with an item like this as well as fulfilling all the contractual criteria that comes with a licensed product. I'm running a business and missing the Xmas market with the sonic this year really didn't make me happy but sadly a lot of the issues where out of my hands.

We had hoped to have this sewn up by November but various issues (way too many to list including the kind of boring business issues which, understandibly, I'm not going to discuss on public forums) meant that deadline came and whent. We did however manage to get the Davros, Sontaran, Cybershade, Santa Roboform and several other new replicas out for that deadline of which we're very proud and have had great feedback from customers.

So there's your news which is basically "I have no news!" I have said I will let you all know as soon as I have some news and I will, I'll be shouting it from the rooftops when I have them ready I promise you.

We are actively working on the sonic as well as several other items but after the dissapointment of not having them ready for this Xmas I'd rather just hang fire on any more info until I'm absolutely sure we've got everything sorted.

Best wishes
Neill

Neill,
Thanks for the update. None of us are criticizing your work or deadlines. We are just as anxious as a 10 year old waiting for his first trip to Disneyland! And like a trip to Disney, I KNOW I won't be dissapointed with the sonic I will be holding in my hand.
I'm hoping to get some decent metal upgrade pieces for my CO version that I can knock around so that I can keep my EFX one pristine.
Sounds like we have a few more months to wait for the sonic. Which isn't all bad, I may be able to save up for two!
