The Mummy Hamunaptra key 3.3

Yes, actually the nail polish SET which includes the powder. It reflects light off of it like it's true metal. Great for flat surfaces, but not precise enough to do the fine details in the key. The coat that the powder wants to stick to, flows into the grooves of the design.
Ahh makes sense. Indy used a tacky spray paint layer instead of anything that came with the powder, maybe that wouldn't obscure the details as much? Still difficult to get the powders into all the nooks and crannies. Anyways, whatever techniques and products you go with will look great I'm sure!

oooh. That could work. But, which paint?

Looks like he just used some red Rustoleum paint/primer combo, let it tack up, applied the powder with a makeup sponge, and then weathered it. Definitely check out his thread if you haven't already:

One of the pieces I had printed was brittle even when just trying to remove the supports. I determined it was a no-go, and redesigned a better way. Also, somehow, I managed to poke a small hole in the bottom film of my resin print bed. I have extra sheets, so I'll just have to replace that to get back to printing. Everything else looks good.

So, weird story, I accidently bought 4k sheets, instead of 8k sheets for my sonic mighty and the 4k sheets don't fit. The correct 8k sheets should be here Tuesday.

I've arranged with MTB for him to do some or all of the printing. I have a 40 hour a week job, but also live with and take care of, my 76 year old Mother, and have little or no free time. Hopefully this will get the keys printed faster, and I can start getting them sent out soon. If you're at the top of the list, expect to get a PM asking for payment in the next few weeks.

Will this be a fully functional key? i would like to be put on the list if so:) looks fantastic

Yep. My Hamunaptra Key 2.0 was fully functional, but only available from Shapeways. (now discontinued) This is Ver 3.3 and will be printed at home. (or by associate) and v3.3 has been updated to improve the overall appearance to be very close to the Hero in looks AND functionality. I copied the basic mechanism from the Hero to my key. The top of the flaps now looks like the Hero flaps. Before, the flaps were less accurate. I made quite a few changes, but it will still be fully functional.

If it makes things easier for you, you can change my option four to an option two, I don't mind painting the key myself.

Okay. Sounds good.

My painting will be a basic two toned with the inside of the symbols being darker, and the surface being lighter. Somewhat similar to my 2.0 paint job in my original build thread.

Yep. I put you on the list.

MTB us doing test prints for me now. And then he'll start production. I've worked out a deal where he gets a share of profits for doing the printing and sends them to me for detail finishing, adding the kit pieces, and individual distribution.

Thank you for adding me to the run. So option 4 is completely assembled and painted correct?

if available, could you add my name. I would be interested in preferably 5, or 1 would be great also :0)

So apparently my dumb account hasn't been giving me notifications on this thread (a lot of the threads that have email notifications enabled just...aren't notifying me.) I was already on the interest list, could you put me down specifically for #1? Is there a price for additional sets of springs as well? I'll probably be making myself more than one.

Yep. A basic two tone paint job. Darker on the recessed areas, and a lighter bronze-ish color on the exposed surfaces. You can see the paint was worn on the Hero key from all the putting-into-pockets and stuff, so that's why I'm going lighter on the surfaces. It doesn't look like it's been buried for 3000 years, it looks like it been in people's hands and passed around. It is never explained how O'Connell gets it, but it has no green or super dark patina.
