The Mexican

Does anyone know if this prop is out there somewhere?
I have never even seen great pictures of it aside from
the screengrabs around google.

if the banned members initials are PF, that wasnt an actual screen used item. There is a little bad blood history behind that peice in question due to a deal gone sour.

Ah, well that's why I used (I believe) in the above. A lot of blood from a lot of people was spilled dealing with PF :rolleyes Well then nope on the Mexican...

Hello everybody,

I know this thread is old, but does anyone have a good copy/casting of this prop pistol?

I am still looking for a nice clean version.

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

I still have the original mould in the garage for the solid static version. There was another set of moulds consisting of individual parts that I have no idea of whereabouts or such. To date I've done no castings or pulls from it for runs or sale. I mention that as years ago someone mistakenly brought my name into a conversation about having offered castings which was not true. Considering the age of the mould I don't think it would hold up for much either way.

I've had pics of this production mold set (below) in my files for about 5 years now, I thought someone here had purchased them or they were offered on EBay (my memory sucks lol). I was stuck with the Propstore gun references and did a lot of work on a digital model, always wished someone did something with these before they disappeared/fell apart/fell into oblivion.

I believe those were the ebay moulds sold by a member here on the board. If memory serves that person had also sold other lots of moulds for the same prop.

Hey Rob,

Thank you for the info. It’s sad that they are too old now, but I understand.

All the best
Olli

Not sure where the moulds for both the trigger guard and trigger are but here is the static one piece mould. The color casting bit was one of the first cast in color tests I ever did and had been sitting in the mould all these years. Didn't even remember until just now pulling the mould.

Thanks for the pictures! Still looks very nice and the casting is beautiful!

I sold those molds. I acquired them in the auction of the Neotek (sp?) assets. I don't think I ever had all the mold required to make the complete gun though. It also looked like some of these molds were in-between steps, or molds used for master / prototype parts that were to get further work.

I couldn't remember the original shop, that's it, neotek. The people involved initials were JL, NM and of course TB which is where a lot of, interesting, things come up with TB whom passed away a few years ago. Those being the original makers have stated only two hero castings were ever made for the film. There was an issue with having the heart shaped cylinder turn hence the moulds of the separate parts. At that point the project was being handled between a couple people and the moving parts casting prop information gets muddy.
Those parties had a series of issues between each other with TB having a repeat history of placing fakes in the collectors market. He was doing this with the mould I posted photos of having borrowed the mould without consent of the owner. When confronted with it TB in an attempt to cover his tracks traded or sold the mould to another person whome I knew. That person got in contact about the mould history... After securing the mould back to pass back to the original owner he had no interest in it and said for me to keep it. In that exchange other moulds were included being Buffy the Vampire stakes and teeth moulds among others from the time of Neotek.

In the end the mould exposed a long trail of fraud with TB and a few others we both were aquanted with or worked with at one time or another. Thats what confirmed everything. There was even an FBI art fraud investigation as it lead directly to the POTC Jack Sparrow fake ring that came up for sale before the sequel film released.
Such a shame when someone with legit artistic talent becomes irreversibly corrupt.

Does anyone have any overhead pics of the pistol? I'm looking for a shot of the engravings in the arrowed section:

Great reading in this thread!
I have one of the screen used guns, it’s in a very nice condition with a few small scratches.
