Wow, I didn't know we had any New Zealand insects crawling around these parts!
Welcome Tim.
I gotta say, I love the master collection idea even if it is out of my price range. If I remember correctly, you guys were planning on releasing Anduril, Sting, Glamdring & Aragorn's ranger sword. There was a post about this a while back but I don't think it listed the order that they're being released. Any idea on a time frame? Also, are they planning any other swords for the series? I may be broke but if you guys ever make a Herugrim or Gúthwinë, I'd probably sell my car or something. :lol
If you want a suggestion for the line, you should think think about doing an ultra exclusive run of Nazgul swords. Limit the run to nine (of course) & make each one unique. Think about that, the nine ringwraiths/collectors scattered all over the globe... talk about collectable! Maybe do it so that some proceeds go to charity or something.
I know it's a pipe dream but I still think it's a cool idea.
Anyway, good luck with the line. I look forward to see what you crazy Kiwi's come up with next!

Tim,

Last year, there was a tour of the LOTR weapons and armour, i think the UK one was at the Leeds Armoury - With talks from Peter Lyon if i am not mistaken.
Unfortunetly i missed it, would of loved to have went, just wondering if there were any plans for visiting the UK again.

You could have it in my house this time if you want!!!! :lol

Yeah, I remember that.
If I remember correctly, Peter Lyons even did some workshops or demos or something.
Tim, if you have any pull at all with this sort of thing you have to tell them to bring that tour to the Met here in NYC! They have a pretty amazing armour exibit on display so they would probably love an event like that.

that was awesome to see, If only it didnt make me cry and realize I have a long way to go in the sword making community. LOL

I know that this vid was originally intended for special features on dvd's etc but you guys should really consider a release of dvd's with just prop and effects documentaries. I mean if people still buy cinefex with it's 90% cgi ratio then practical stuff like this would get loads of interest. Even if it was just a download or subscription service it would be awesome!

if Weta did a dvd only on weapons/props/and armor i would be ALL over it, especially if it was focused on Lord of the Rings....good idea.

I'm not much of a sword type of guy, but I have to say that it was pretty cool getting to swing it 'round... albeit, very carefully. It just felt real.

Thanks, Anna. :)

I'm so happy Anduril sold out before I found out about it... If I had known about it when it was still in stock, I think I might've sold my car and a kidney to get it :lol

How cool is Richard Taylor...love that guy!...:thumbsup

Thanks for sharing the video, it's amazing what goes into building one sword!
