The Marvels (2023)

Not the same things, the same quality. They haven't done quality in years. It's been "all of our movies will make a billion dollars, so why try?" Yet every single one of their movies now lose money and they can't figure out the reason. That's pretty much been Disney's problem for years now. "They've always liked our stuff so let's stop caring and just crank it out!"

If you think any of it has been good, I have serious doubts about your taste.
You didn't answer my question as to how you know any of the Marvel films or series post-Endgame haven't been any good if you've never watched any of them.

My taste in entertainment is personal, just as your taste is personal. The difference is, I make my own decisions, I don't let angry YouTubers do it for me.

That's the thing, just because you personally aren't influenced by social media influencers doesn't mean that a lot of other people aren't. These days, I'd argue that people who aren't/don't allow themselves to be influenced by social media (tin include YouTube and Facebook) are in the minority. I honestly believe that the majority of people out there who subscribe to one for form of social media or another allow themselves to be influenced unduly influenced by it. If their favorite YouTuber or the majority of what they see posted on Facebook says that X movie is bad or Y person is bad for Z reasons these people will then not see X movie and will try to cancel Y person either because they're too lazy to think for themselves and/or want to belong to what they perceive to be the "in crowd" or believe that what might just be a vocal minority to represent the majority and don't want to make waves or risk being perceived as going against "popular opinion", or a combination of both.
I disagree, well, at least when it comes to abstract practices like movie criticism. I definitely agree when it comes to physical product consumerism.

I don't believe that all these youtube channels became famous by "influencing" their audiences but rather they tapped into something that was already there. Without getting into a debate of the quality of movies of the past 10 years or so, there's certainly been a decline overall in audience enthusiasm for the tent-pole films. Movie-goers aren't as satisfied with these films as they were before and all these youtube channels became an outlet for them to digest that dissatisfaction.

There was a famous American political commentator who was once asked how he was able to convert so many people to his line of thinking. He replied that he didn't convert anybody. It's only that people finally heard someone that shared their views.

Have you seen the box office numbers? They all fail miserably.

I think hate watching is idiotic. I have zero interest in anything that Marvel does these days. It's not even a consideration. The last Marvel movie I saw was Endgame and it wasn't that hot. It's going to take a lot of absolutely stellar quality movies with NO agenda to win me back.

Somehow, I don't see that happening.

I'm a card carrying Marvel Zombie & proud of it, but I also am 100% aware of where the studio sits right now.

After seeing how badly things like the pandemic, studio meddling, & content for the sake of content have caused the quality of almost EVERYTHING Marvel has produced to be 'meh' at best, I'm looking forward to this being the last thing we get with their old system. To me, the last top to bottom quality things I've seen have been both seasons of Loki, WandaVision, & Werewolf by Night.

After the Variety article & other reports I've kept up with, I personally Believe Fiege is trying to right the ship. We have ECHO in January & then CA:NWO later in the year, but that's it. I believe I know where they're heading, story-wise, & for those that despise the multiverse stuff, I'm pretty sure it'll be gone by the two Kang films. Guess I'll wait & see.

Probably won’t check it out in theatres as still recovering from a health issue… BUT, these are the types of reviews that generally have me watching after thinking, “What!?!? this is hilarious! What are peoples problems? Does every movie have to be The Departed to be considered good!? Some movies are just entertaining and not high art!”

EG.

The Flash
WW84
Ms Marvel

But every movie I hear is “great!” I end up watching and hating

Original wonder woman
Rogue One
Turning Red
Encanto

Maybe I just like traaaaaaash.

I’ll probably love it. Ha… but I did HATE “Captain Marvel”…

So all you guys dissing this already have been to see it, right?
Or are you just jumping on the Brie Larson/Marvel hate wagon?

Sometimes I can rely on the word of those who have tasted a meal and described it as tasting like a turd and forgo the need to shove it in my own mouth to confirm it.

I call it part of informed decision-making as a consumer.
