The Man With The Iron Fists

Yes, I caught a link to that trailer and it looks over the top chop-sokki madness.
Reminded of the Kiddo vrs. Crazy 88 combat in the House of Blue Leaves.

I'll be checking it out.

It has a interesting cast with potential but I just don't know how RZA is going to do with directing. I'd love a mixture of Kill Bill and House of Flying Daggers but it might be out of RZA's league at the moment. After watching the trailer which doesn't explain much but i got that feeling of plenty of action and nothing else. Sorry to be a nay sayer that's just how movies seem to be now a days lol.

The last time I trusted members of the Wu-Tang Clan with a martial arts flick, I ended up seeing Ong-Bak in the theater - and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I saw a commercial with Method Man and Red Man praising it as the coming of the next Bruce Lee, and it was very nearly that.

I have every confidence that this will be a fun, entertaining, visually appealing spectacle, because if you're going to take anyone at their word on martial arts films, it's the guys from Wu-Tang Clan.

wait- so there's a scene that takes place in a brothel and all the girls are scantily clad hookers:eek...and.... and.... I forget what I was going to say...:lol

Considering this is a Kung-fu film directed by someone who loves and is vastly knowledgeable in said genre, as well as scored by that same director who just happens to be one of the most talented producers around, I'd say this might just be a very fun ride.

High hopes abound. :thumbsup

Figured I'd bring this back up instead of create a new one... I saw this Friday night. The set design and costumes were excellent. I'm fully expecting to see a few costumes and props pop up in here. In fact, my wife looked at me half way through and said "you're going to wind up making that knife, aren't you," in regard to Russel Crowe's gun knife.

As for the review of the movie - it's inconsistent. The choreography was too fast, as were the cuts. There were a lot of unnecessary spinning shots. The story was thin, at best. There are things that don't make a lot of sense, even when willing to believe that a guy can turn his body to brass.

Watch at your own risk, but don't pay full price. Make this a rental.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I was kinda confused with the gold part. Did the lion clan already have the gold after meeting with the emperor?
The movie had a great start but the ending was kinda disappointing.

It was my understanding the Lion Clan was to escort the gold through Jungle Village (who wrote this crap?!?!?), once it arrived at the border. For there to even be that question indicates how weak the writing is. The fight choreography left me wanting more, and the camera choices... amateur. Also, I found the audio fairly uneven, though that may have to do with the theater I was in at the time.

The movie was shot and clocked in at 4 hours. Eli Roth jumped in and said this needs to be cut n water down a bit. So you got a movie rolling around the 1 1/2 hour mark. needless to say the blu ray of this movie should have the missing movie / story parts. I'm looking forward to seeing it as a whole.

you like martial art movies, Check out Red Cliffs. It was 8 hours and then pushed out to theaters n dvd at 4 hours. They cut the whole 1st half out that starts the story of coming to power. Very good and you wont miss the 1st half.
