I’m curious since yours turned out so well; You mentioned the show shirt pattern placement is different than what Fjallraven offers and you obviously had to communicate in a very detail oriented way with the seamstress who did the work.

What changes and details do you recommend pointing out specifically?

I had to advise them to replace the entire front left section with new fabric from a larger shirt, making sure the pattern matches the right side. Then, replicate the pattern of the existing left chest pocket, and place them on the breast of both left and right sides of the shirt.

On top of that, go ahead and show them my photo, and they should be able to replicate. Just make sure you have a decent amount of fabric available for use for the shirt to get made.

Just got back from visiting three different seamstresses/alteration studios with my bundle of shirts and none of them wanted to take on the job. Apparently you can count yourself very lucky you found someone willing to do it and who did it very well.

Now considering contacting Baron boutique and just shipping them the shirts if they’re willing to do it

Alright, so here’s the thing. I made some mods to Jameel’s bag. The darker webbing I replaced with stronger tighter cotton webbing, then hand waxed them to give them a rustic/used look.

I also modded the webbing to come down further down the strap, closer to the end of the straps (which looks a lot better, because in majority of the shots, you can see the webbing on the strap and the D-rings coming down from over the shoulder).

The waxed canvas I had to ship to him to cut in to the backpack (which honestly probably wasn’t used for the show), but man does the color look perfect, and it holds together like a bulletproof vest (though it does retain its shape, it isn’t too boxy that it looks dorky) - which is honestly a fabric Joel would have chosen and used for a fabric - more likely than a simple cotton.

I did get the main button enclosure corrected to match the screenshots from the show (the shape) and changed the button snap to a stronger one (even had to swap the canvas strap that holds it).

I also added a leather draw string slide for the drawstrings.

I did make one flaw or an upgrade: I added resin to the end knots of the drawstrings - mistake. They don’t look the greatest.

Given the above mods, I’m happy with all of them except the mods to the drawstring.

I have scoured every available resource, and cannot get perfect confirmations for the exact top of the bag - it’s literally an unknown territory, but judging from a few screenshots I was able to pull from the show, it’s my best guess.

Want to make this the most accurate reproduction, so if you guys have contacts or photos, please share!

Currently in the market for a new travel backpack and remembered this, was curious Jameel Ur if I ordered the bag could the upgrades immortalverse mentioned like the shape of the main closure, leather drawstring slide, stronger snap, and differently positioned cotton webbing be incorporated? Or are the bags done and ship as is?

Just figured I’d want it as accurate as possible if I were going to spend on a replica, and immortalverse continues to provide great research for making these accurate

Also, I'm adjusting my backpack to match the onscreen buckle and strap length and feeding (the way the strap is fed through the buckle). At present, the current strap slides down too much when I wear it, so I constantly have to adjust. I put a pretty heavy load on it and wiggled it like crazy to see if it would adjust, and it held the position pretty good, so we'll see how it does!

I'm also getting the actual padded strap length reduced. It's 2 inches too long.

Looks like a new winter coat, gloves, and jeans. Very brief and not well lit enough to get more info though and the only other shot of Joel is the same as the last few teasers with the same flint and tinder jacket.

As well, Jameel, do you think there is a way you could make the backpack expandable? I have a 5.11 72 hour backpack and love the versatility of the size. I want to be able to use it as a diaper bag, or bug out bag, as I have been sleeping in snow banks in -20 degree weather recently after fiancée kicked me out. I won’t be purchasing until I get back on my feet and have money, but just inquiring.

I’m definitely looking at the knife. I really want to find a suitable base to start with, then find a way to do the inlay.

I’m convinced that the prop department did nothing more than laser engrave the “inlay” and just paint it white, then weather the switchblade.

It would have taken more and more time to disassemble it, remove the pins and then mess with the handle to make it game accurate.

The thermos I haven’t looked in to in a while, but I’m willing to look back in to it.

I can’t remember the model… anybody got a reference?

Probably some rations and tins etc. I think we've covered most of the props that we see on screen at least.

As for the Thermos I spent a LONG time trying to work out what colour thermos it actually was because in the clip I'm not sure if its the way the scene has been coloured but where its rubbed to the metal it also looks like its the eggshell version of the thermos? one that's been sprayed black and then has some black tape (looks to be the same as used on the torch) wrapped round the logo. Either way at the time for me at least it was cheaper to get the eggshell version at the time so I just went with that! I thought even if I'm wrong it just adds to the post apocalyptic feel of the cosplay itself and I like to think my version came out pretty good and close!

Side note: It will also depend on which version of the backpack we see because in EP4 he actually ditches his first backpack with the truck! I'm assuming because he feels its too dangerous to go back and collect it and the supplies in the truck. So we know what's sort of in that first one but after that when he starts using Henry's we don't really know we never see him use it or what's inside after that.

I recently went looking for the Shirling and I found out it was custom made but the closest is apparently made by Aston Leather Laredo Shearling Coat - Stylish & Versatile Outerwear

however its not exact and VERY pricey

Yeah I found that one too. I generally only consider that type of money for exact replicas. If I’m gonna go for close but not screen matched, I start looking for increased utility, such as a hood on one.
