The Last Airbender Blows!

So I saw the DVD for $5 and got it to surprise the kids today.

They were surprised! It ended up being the biggest piece of Sky Bison Dung we've ever seen.

The acting is terrible, the story disjointed and the casting blows!

The set design is the only thing good about this film.

Sooooo disappointed! M Knight Shamalashould be banned from ever making a sequel.

That is unfortunate. My daughter watched that animated show
over and over and over and then the next thing you know
I know the characters and the plots and it's become a guilty
pleasure of mine also.

I had heard the movie blew. I am afraid to see HOW bad the
movie is. Is it HIGHLANDER II bad?

I should have read reviews, but I didn't blow any money. It's really too bad. After watching Signs, I swore I'd never see another Shyamalan movie as I think he blows. Until Airbender, I'd kept my word. I had a dozen friends at that showing and I wanted to be there just to hang out. All of us hated it.

I have watched the animated series and I had a real hard time following what was going on in the movie. I felt bad for the people who had never seen the animated series, they would of had no flipping clue what the movie was about.

I agree the cartoon was really good but sadly the creators didn't have much control over the movie and M Night suckalot kinda made it into what it is.

What a coincidence ! I got this on DVD last week and 2 days ago the Mrs and I started watching it.

....... we couldn't take more than 15 minutes of it unfortunately. Not even 2 more glasses of wine helped :lol

For me, that is saying something, as I am not at all hard to please where movies are concerned.

I loved ATLA. I had high hopes for the film and I was sorely disappointed. I should have suspected since M.N.S was directing but I had read an interview in which he described his absolute love for the series, which he enjoyed with his children. I thought he would honor the series bc he claimed to be a fan. Friends who didn't watch the original were less disappointed than I was.

Huh, coinkydink, parents-in-law gave this as a present to my son and I watched it a couple of weeks ago too. I'd read reviews and had heard it was bad, but thought I'd give it a chance.

I'd seen about half of two or three episodes only. So, I didn't have a big investment in the show and the movie didn't **** on anything for me. I didn't find it hard to follow at all, it was disjointed at times but not cripplingly so. It's...lord, it isn't good, though, is it? M. Night Shyamalan's emperor's new clothes were obvious years ago but it's sad to see how little talent or energy or whatever the heck it is that makes a movie live the guy truly has.

That was my experience in a nutshell. What's all the griping about? It's a bad kid's movie, but it isn't THAT much worse than most bad kid's movies.

Very dull though, and poorly thought out.

What's all the griping about?

It;s similar the the Thunderbirds Movie that came out a few years ago. :thumbsdown

Totally wrong!!! I was hoping that Uncle Iroh would be someone similar to Mako Iwamatsu but the character was totally different. They even changed the pronunciation of the names!! Why on earth would they do that?? :wacko

There was no vision in this film at all. I hope it gets picked up again by someone and they do it right.

My brother loved the cartoons and went to the theater to watch this movie. He said it was the biggest mistake of his life....I decided to pass on viewing it...ever :cool

Yeah, I knew about that. Bizarre - why on earth would they do that?!? I mean, what WAS that? A mistake? Overweening directorial arrogance, to make the thing more 'his own', somehow? WHAT?

Why would you deliberately dilute or weaken the brand you are supposedly trying to exploit??!???!????!??!!?

Yeah, M. Knight wrote the forward to the "Art Of" book but I'm wondering if he ever actually sat down and watched any episodes. :confused

He might have read the cliff notes and went straight to the set department! :lol

The only thing that DVD is good for is doing coke off it.

And it took that kid like an hour to make some wind after swing'n his arms around. My son (9 at the time) said, "Why don't they just hit him when he is doing that?" That made me proud that day.
