The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread

So I've been looking around at getting a new Indiana Jones jacket and thought I might ask what the most accurate version being offered by Wested was. I found several different coats on their site and many different options. Which is the most screen accurate? 99% sure that Lambskin is what the original was made from in Raiders. I saw another option for Shrunken Lambskin and got lost from there...lol

Can anyone help me out?

I'm no expert, but from what I understand, Wested's Hero in seal brown lambskin is the closest Raiders jacket.

Standard Indy Hero Jacket

But it all depends on what movie/scene/look you're going for. I like the Raiders opening (idol grab) look, so I'll be buying a new "standard" Indy jacket from Todd's Costumes, and then (maybe) a Wested Hero.

I'm a huge fan of Todd's "Bantu Wind" jacket; unfortunately the tanning process left the underlying leather gray so it doesn't distress with the screen-accurate reddish undertones. Otherwise I wouldn't even be looking for another jacket.

Ah, thank you for the info. Any idea if the jackets run small/large? I've read both after scouring the forums.

Alls I know is, the Hero is a slimmer fit. Otherwise I defer to the dedicated Hero thread on COW. (Sorry.)

That sounds about right. I think mine was about $225 shipped (five years or more ago).

Grey distressed areas can be made to look more reddish by treating the leather with Lexol or Pecard's.

For Raiders you need a Wested hero in Lamb.

Remember what looked good on Harrison might not look good on you

Over the years there are so many variations from Vendors for Indy jackets it will drive you mad. :lol

Hey all, sorry for bumping an old thread but I'm scouring the internet for info on the custom 80s fit ROLA jacket from Wested.

I see a few members have the jacket in question. Is it noticeably slimmer than the normal jacket (constrictive chest circumference)? Do the shoulder seams hang off as much as the normal jacket?

I love the look of the ROLA jacket and I'm a huge Indy fan, but I'm looking for more of a street-wearable leather jacket that a style-forward guy can wear while also showing my love of the Indy movies.

I'm wondering if I should order my normal chest size or size down. Of course, I don't want to size down if the slim fit is super slim. I'm not a huge guy (5'8", 160lbs) and I live in the US so I can't go to their warehouse and ask. In addition, Gemma has been very very slow at answering any of my emails.

Any help from the superfans would be much appreciated. Keep up the awesome forums, there's so much info here!

Now it's my turn to bump the thread. I got the itch and decided to go for a Wested Raiders jacket. I'm looking for used as I think an Indy jacket should be. The hunt begins....

Visit the Wested site and look in the clearance section, too.
Sometimes, a real bargain pops up!

Hey folks. Just got my first Wested Jacket (Raiders style and tailored for my tallness). Quick question - the zipper seems to be on the opposite side from what I am used to on jackets. Is that to match the Indy jacket or for some other reason? Just a little weird to get used to. Anyway, here I am with some of my treasures.

You know how the Brits like to drive on the opposite side of the road? Same with their zips. I'm not joking; it's correct for Britsh made garments to have their zips on this side.

I wondered if it was a British thing. Thanks for the info. Now, to go get dragged behind a truck and weather this thing a little. :)

It's the same all over Europe actually ;) pretty sure it's more an American thing to have it mirrored. Like how the US is almost the only country to still use imperial units :p
First thing you should do to weather it is to wear it when you sleep, not the most comfortable thing to wear in bed but it does help to break it in :)
Oh and when you're not wearing it, toss it on the floor and just leave it there.

And out of curiosity, just how tall are you?
