The Gorn ship from "Arena"

IMHO the computer generated stuff they did for DS9's Trials and Tribulations was better[/b]

:lol That's because they didn't use CG, they built models of the E, Klingon D-7 and the space station.

So yeah, I totally agree that DS-9's effects shots looked a lot better, but I think they're getting better each week with the remastered TOS.

Some of the new sfx shots are awesome and others are just plain crap. I still don't care for some of the sfx Enterprise ship shots. The ship appears to be a fancy cartoon instead of a believable metal vessel. Overall the new sfx are o.k. but I still prefer the original version best for nostalgia.

They really should of showed the ship a bit bigger if they went to the trouble to come up with a design model for the Gorns. It's very tiny on screen - even on my big screen TV.

Does not fit in with the TOS story board designs. Totaly new design and too modernized. The original concept drawings were two saucers connected by a center section with winged weapon pods. the engines were two cylinders coming off the rear pod top and bottom pointing forward.
Gamescience which produced the Star fleet battles game used the original artwork in their designs for their miniatures. Too far off from the original block and saucer designs of the original show.

the new Gorn ship does not look like TOS era studio model work to me.
And it's not of course I know.

A busy design, lacking the deceptively simply looking elegance of TOS ships.

They needed to clean her up some.

(though I suppose they could have been going for a highly modified look that the Gorns threw together to strike at the federation).
