I want to share with the RPF fan community my intention to offer a true screen accurate all aluminum Chewie Bowcaster from The Force Awakens. This is a project I been working for the past 18 months and is ready to become a reality. This Bowcaster prop is based on the Barnett Commando Crossbow used to design the original screen used prop and the one made by Prop Shop in Pinewood Studios for the production. I was very very lucky to acquire a Prop Shop Bowcaster and a Barnett Commando crossbow and use the latest 3D scanner technology to produce perfect flawless scans. The original screen used Bowcaster was made of 3D printed resin, aluminum bow, aluminum solid scopes and aluminum barrel and front sight. I am going to offer this beautiful prop entirely made of high grade aluminum, with hollow see through scopes, spincast pewter discs and knobs, and real sling/strap. The Bowcaster will be offered all painted, weathered and assembled, ready to display or cosplay. It will come with a custom base stand. A 3D printed Bowcaster was already made to check any issues and the first aluminum prototype will be machined in the next three weeks. This prop will be possible in cooperation of four local machine shops. There are already 6 people interested. The base paint coat will be CERAKOTE and then painted with the very same color gunmetal/gray color used on the original prop and hand weathered like the original. Here are some pictures of the parts already made. The last two parts to make are the aluminum crossbow frame and the scopes. I will be posting pictures of a full assembled unpainted Bowcaster before I have it painted, weathered and assembled. I am still calculating all the production costs, but the price range will be between $1,900.00 and $2,200.00. Since all the files are made and most of the parts were also made and tested, this run should go pretty smooth. I will add the names of the six people that already signed up to the run.

Depending of the number of people that sign up the production will be done is batches of 20 Bowcasters, since this will be a fully painted and assembled piece.

Thank you in advance,

Manny Romero

Interested. I indicated interested in the ANH run, but I’d prefer this one since I punt I can get the rest of the parts to finish the ANH model.

This is amazing! and absolutely definitely a grail for me. Is it possible to get an unfinished version? Would really like to do the finish myself, though your work on it seems absolutely top notch!

Thank you for your nice words about my work. This is only possible thanks to the collaboration of three local machine and sheet metal shops in my area and the drive to offer a high quality and durable prop. Unlike my previous EE-3 all aluminum/metal Boba Fett Blaster run, I decided to offer this particular prop all painted, weathered and assembled. The majority of fans and collectors prefer a finished product, and with this one I can make it possible since I was able to obtain basically the very same prop used in the film. I already have the very same base paint code for the Bowcaster and each Bowcaster will be CERAKOTE it in black before they are hand painted and weathered. What I can do for you is offer you the Bowcaster all painted and you can add your own weathering.

Here is the list so far:

1. Adam Savage (Deposit Paid)
2. Mike Costa
3. Christopher Lorde
4. Joseph Azar (Deposit Paid)
5. James Abrams (Deposit Paid)
6. juvatwad (RPF) (Deposit Paid)
7. Scruffylooking (RPF)
8. Johnnyb (RPF) (Deposit Paid)
9. scud42 (RPF) (Deposit Paid)
10. dkraude (RPF) (Waiting confirmation)

I've been coming back to this post for the past week. This would be a wonderful prop to have. Can I say that I am definitely interested depending on final price and timing?

I just wanted to give you guys an update on TFA Chewie Bowcaster run. One of my local machine shops will start machining the frame and prod/bow part next week. The final price for the FULLY painted, weathered and assembled all aluminum Bowcaster will be $2,175.00. Based on 25 pieces. I went ahead and ordered all the steel spheres from a company overseas since it takes 6 business weeks to get the goods here. I will only request a non refundable deposit of $435.00 which is only 20% of the full value of the Bowcaster. This is a expensive prop to produce. Each Bowcaster will be CERAKOTE in black and then hand painted using the very same base paint used in the original prop and hand weathered. Some of the parts have been produced already which will reduce the production time. All the Bowcasters will be painted, weathered and assembled and the same time. I am estimating a shipping date in December 2021. I will be giving updates every two weeks. So far there are 11 people who have signed up. As a collector I understand this is not a cheap prop, but the price is based on the complexity of the prop and the materials used. I can offer a payment plan, please PM me for details. A custom made ase stand will be produced during the production. I was only able to buy enough aluminum material to produce (4) Bowcasters. One of the Bowcasters will be assembled for pictures and then CERAKOTE it, painted and weathered to shop how the final product will look and to compare it with the original Bowcaster. Please let me know if you guys have any questions. Thank you for your time and support on this project.

Hi guys, happy Sunday. I will start producing the barrels and the scopes, and I will have the side knobs and discs CERAKOTE it so I can have the side plates assembled an weathered. I need to purchase more aluminum blocks for the frames, and I will need the deposits to cover part of the costs. You can send a PM to provide your PayPal users so I can send the invoices. Each invoice will include the Spot#. I want to have as many parts ready so by the time the frames are all machined the painting and assembly will be faster. Thank you for your attention and support.

I have a couple of Barnett commando crossbows waiting to be converted... I'd be interested in detail parts. Is that something you can handle when doing this run?

Thnaks,
Jedi Dade

The stainless steel spheres arrived yesterday, here are some pictures. Here are also a picture of the spincast pewter discs and knobs ready to have them CERAKOTE them in black (The scope is for another commission build).

Thank you for your patience.

So sorry to hear this Manny! Wishing your wife (and family) nothing but the best for speedy recovery. It goes without saying (but I’m going to say it) that your family comes first and is far more important! Take all the time that is needed, I’m sure everyone understands!
