The Following with Kevin Bacon

As far as pilot/premiere's go, I thought it was pretty good. Huge bodycount for a tv show, fairly gruesome, looks like it will be a twisted show. I have a tough time accepting Kevin Bacon as anything other than a slimeball after many of the roles he has played, but I think they can sell him as a damaged hero type. I'll definitely be tuning in to see how it develops.

Loved the pilot. Much darker theme than I'm used to seeing Fox/CBS/etc do. Acting was great with some very unexpected moments. Loved the use of bass pulsing instead of a lot of music to create tension any time Carroll was on screen.

My main concern is keeping the story going. 14 new episodes in a row is great, but really, after a season, this show could easily get old.

Wasn't what I was expecting and that is a good thing. I have a very hard time imaginging them being able to sustain that pace and it not becoming unnecessarily over-complicated in time, but I do like the idea very much.

And wow, Kevin Bacon looks amazing for 55!

I liked it, and I didn't go in with high hopes.

The only shows that I really watch on TV on a week by week basis are Justified, TWD, and Breaking Bad.

I don't know if this show will be able to keep the pace or keep me hooked, but I'll tune in next week and go from there.

That was a good pilot, dark and intense; also they managed to establish good amount of character history in a single episode.

Kevin Bacon is all over the TV here in the uk at the moment advertising for a mobile phone network, so for the first ten minutes I kept expected him to tell us about 'everything, everywhere' lol

Great start, looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Seemed way too derivative for me, Manhunter? (or Red Dragon, if you must) anyone? I know thats a bit of an oversimplification, but there were just too many similarities for my liking.

I was impressed with the fact that they used Maggie Grace in the way they did. I mean, she's had some series cred with LOST & an amount of big screen success. I really felt that she was being set up to either be a 'Follower' or the main pursuit of the season. Never occurred to me that they'd kill her off in the pilot. Not sure if the producers are trying to give a 'Noone is Safe' vibe or what, but I liked it.

Thinking back, I was reminded of the original LOST script where Jack dies instead of the pilot. I recall hearing that ABC wanted the producers to cast Michael Keaton to give the idea that he was the starring lead & then hit with the sucker punch.

Great first ep, although I can't stand Shawn Ashmore's character. I assume he's just there to act as a punching bag for Ryan Hardy, but I'm much more hoping he ends up cannon fodder instead.

I knew I recognized the music during the ending of episode 2, as it was the same song used for Watchmen profile trailer of Rorschach. Song is Angel by Massive Attack. But looks like The Following used a cover version with different (male) vocals, while I think the original had lyrics sung by a female. The cover version is by Sepultura.

As for the episode 2 ending.
Are they implying something more about the agent or was she just granting his rights with access to casual reading? Even though it's supposedly complete works of Poe.

That final scene pretty much confirmed there was something up, to me.

The first inkling was the 'understanding' of what the following had going on in their heads. Kinda like a "Oops...I just said too much."

Anyone care to explain how the big security guard swooped down from the ceiling like a ninja? I thought it was pretty funny! And the last scene with the guy walking away from a crowd had me questioning what would've happened in reality. But I have heard worse things happening with bystanders sitting idly by.

This show has me tuned in, which is a good thing.

Prison's wouldn't let just anyone visit a guy like that would they? Isn't there typically a list of visitor's approved by the DA or a judge or something?

Also, thought it was less than brilliant of the new agent in charge to give him a book of the collective works of poe. He escaped and killed many guards - you'd think solitary with nothing in the room period would be a step up from what he'd be getting...

Wow, we have just entered a whole new realm of The Five Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Now we can connect him with television stars as well as movie stars.

I'm really enjoying the show. Has a good pace and seems to do a good job with the flashbacks to tie things together.

I love this show, it is so wonderfully twisted and dark. I am not sure how they are going to stretch this out into 14 episodes but so far so good.

And in four short episodes, I am pretty much done with this show. Just not interested. The writing is atrocious, the social commentay is annoying, and the shock value is wearing off very quickly. This had so much potential. What a shame.
