The Evolution of a Predator Suit-From Start to Finish

Thanks for the reply George! I was going to use the velcro to hold the legs to the upper torso, but now I just remembered someone saying that they made suspenders for the legs to keep them from falling. I think I might give that a try - it seems easy enough to do.

Never heard of Dap - gotta look for it when I go to Home Depot.

The canon I'm using is Carl's - resin but still relatively light. The canon base I have already has the upper canon arm glued in. I want to remove it and put Carls in so that the canon can go up and down and swivel.

George, do you have pictures of the underside of your canon base that you can send me?

There will be no undersuit. I am unsure what you mean by using elastic to attach the arms. I have velcro - same idea, or are you talking about the stretchy elastic that you can get in a craft store?

The big question I have - what is the best adhesive to use for glueing things to latex? This is what I have - or is there better stuff?

Scotty to the rescue!!

The original canon base I had was foam...when I went with the resin base, I used Dap weldwood glue to adhere the arm to the base. Now that i see what you are working with I understand. I have to look at my Carlart P1 canon...but I think It is light enough to just glue that arm to your base. Definitly go the suspender route...just clip them to the bottoms like a pair of fishing waders..works great and totally adjustable. I went with figure #2 on MI's diagram of arm attachment. I liked the elastic ( yes, the kind sold at craft store) not the biggest velcro fan...always think that it will come apart at the wrong time. Purchasing a black bodysuit ( the kind worn under stormtroopers) is an easy and confortable thing to wear under the suit. It stays in place under the latex and breaths...also it looks fine at the armpits when you raise your arms ( allows for ventilation...it will get hot..oh, yes it will)

Now suit up ...let's see this bad boy in action

I managed to get most everything set up. I think he looks pretty freaking cool if I do say so myself.

I still have a lot more to do: fill the backpack and make it sturdy; add the bone necklace and skull lanyard; add netting to the legs and arms; attach thigh armor; add blades and kneepads.

No flash and one with flash:

There was some minor damage to the paint on the shoulder armor, but I should be able to fix it:

My 26 inch model looks teeny now:

Damn this is fun!

I have been working on this all afternoon...

I used a foam mattress and cut it up to fit in the oddly shaped backpack. I glued the foam pieces to the latex using thick cyanoacrylate (krazy glue) and it worked perfectly:

Now it stands up on its own:

Then I glued the thigh armor to the upper torso:

The last thing I did tonight was glue some foam to the underside of the canon mount:

(yes Carl's awesome canon does in fact swivel!)

Tomorrow I glue the canon and its base to the backpack and then connect the straps to hold the backpack on...

I completed the backpack, added the shoulder canon and WABAM! ...he's done. I don't plan on wearing anything until Halloween. For the most part its just for display.

I snapped a bunch more pics that I wanted to share:

In a few of them he has the Robert Deniro look. Its like hes saying, "You talkin ta me? You wanna piece of ME??"

All you need is some leather for the loin and butt cover...add some claws and you are good to go. Man, it looks awsome...oh and Kudos for getting him on a manequin...I know thats not an easy task

Actually getting it all on the mannequin wasn't that hard at all. It has to be done one part at a time but everything fits perfectly. I have the leather coming in the mail and I have a very cool skull/bone/claw/teeth lanyard that I am working on. Included are some small animal skulls, some bear claws (thanks again Gene!), a great white tooth, and various other bones. It should be pretty cool when its done.

Now that its all together it actually looks cool...
