OK because I want it to be as good as it can... constructive criticism... It really looks good...

And I realize you're not done so if these things are on your todo list please ignore me :)

The console buttons all look off somehow... not sure if its that they are not shiny, or not "lit" or that I can pick out the edges clearly without trying.

the show had a few kind of "set shot angles" some of which you've replicated but its just looks funky when we are not seeing the set form those angles because its not what we're used to seeing. Great for debugging your models, but something to be aware of when your doingit for real.

the lighting seems too dark compared to my memory. I think more lights, to lighten everything and tone down the shadows a bit. will be a good thing.

Again - trying to assist. its already far better than any 3d model I've attemtped... :D

as for lighting, the bridge seen in original series was sometimes this dark or much lighter, depending on season/episode.

i imagine the most important thing is that if Steve plans to place himself within the cgi environment, to make sure you match lighting on live action as closely as possible to cgi lighting, or vice versa.

for what it's worth on my end, cgi bridge looking pretty kewl...it reminds me of my fantasy tv show where they relaunch original series, but ALL cgi, including crew, like FINAL FANTASY movie. would be REALLY cool to see another season, or at least one more episode, realized in the TOS universe...even if it wasn't the TOS crew (Kirk, Spock, etc) but another ship but in same time frame, with similar tone to storytelling as original series.

but i digress...

looking forward to your project updates, Steve.

That looks so good, Steve. I thought it was great when you first posted the initial images...but the finessing you do to this just makes it all the more impressive. The moody lighting, the textures, the more accurate detailing...you can see how you're massaging this into a far more convincing and realistic digital set.

And lord how I want that Captain's Chair!

Steve,

There are moments especially when the camera is whipping around when I swear I could climb through the monitor and be standing on the bridge. Brilliant!

I'm guessing but for the chairs, did you photograph the physical chairs and import them or are these also cgi models? I'm guessing that when you film the green screen, we will certainly be seeing the real chairs.

Ted.

That is the coolest animation Steve! One could splice that POV into the TNG "Relics" with Scotty and it would just add to that whole thing immensely. I wish there was an way to walk through every bit of the Big E in that detail. I truly felt like you had snuck us aboard between duty shifts or something. Fantastic!

Here is that video test. Be sure to watch full frame 720p. Keep in mind it's not finished yet. This is just a test.

You've captured the magic that made us all fall in love with that place as children and made us want to visit it again. Bravo!!!

Have you considered sharing your skills with Cryptic? That's the company that is behind the Star Trek Massive Multiplayer Online Game. Their ship bridges are decent but are completely missing that something that you've included.

Its been awhile since I dropped by Steve been busy casting APC's but the bridge walk through looks awesome its like your really there!
Ray.

Very nice test vid Steve. Feels like the real thing. I love how you can replicate reflections on shiny consoles that way.

Thanks guys. It still has some way to go but not nearly the amount of work it took to just build the wire frames. As for Cryptic I have been playing STOL for a year now and made it to Vice Admiral. I could be wrong but I doubt they'd have an interest in me.

Which brings me to this. If any of you guys play the game let me know and send a friend request. It would be great to have some more friends in there.

I know many of you tried it when it first came out and it was bad, but you should see it now. Wow. And it's always improving.

Steve

I was wanderign after following that link... and noticed steve has another big Star trek model planned... What may I ask... (Crossing fongers and hoping for a 1/1000 Enterprise D)

A D would be nice but lets face it. If we thought the Big E was hard it didn't have:

1. A bunch of curves and contours.

2. A million scribed details.

3. More Aztecs than Carter has pills!

4. And lets not forget all those freaking windows!

This is a job for CAD and a CNC mill - printer is you hope to have it sometime next year.

I thought it got leaked? Didn't it?

I'm doing a very large Galileo next. Big enough to have a completed lighted up interior.

And no glass and epoxy this time. Pure resin cast. for the sake of my sanity.

Now you can't tell me few will want one eh?

Steve
