The Enterprise Project

Well, I see now why no zero return for the wire chase, which makes me wonder what the underside of the original set chair looked like with wires stapled and chaffing down there through a separate hole. I bet it looked like a couple of violations of electrician's codes.

But you know, it looks kinda naked without a Bridge around it. I see a second story addition over the pool in your future. Aw, who are we kidding? Once you have the bridge, you'll need places for the turbolift to actually go. Is there an RPFer that has worked for OTIS? So then you'll need a corridor, and some cabins, and a Conference Room with a table to spread out the schematics and blue-prints, a Sick Bay to keep all the band-aids and cough drops and an Arboretum for Rosie to bury treats in. Not to mention a shuttle bay to connect to that switch on the chair.

Next thing you know you're on KTLA and they're doing a story about the crazy guy building his own one to one scale Enterprise in his back yard. The zoning board is freaking out and the neighbors are complaining how it's blotting out the sun and killing their lawns. Their complaints however will die away once you bring some secondary fusion reactors on line and offer to reroute power the entire ten block area. Then the lawsuits with the NRC and DWP start. At least the anti collision lights on the saucer will actually serve a purpose to warn away low flying aircraft.

But first, someone is going to have to make a BIG trip to Lowe's. You are going to need a metric buttload of red putty...

Damn you're good and funny! Love the picture you did. Must have a bigger one. ;)

Steve,

Loved the latest video. Especially Rosie and her cape. And thanks again for letting me a part of the fun.

Here is the one picture I took of the crew of the USS NEILL. Rosie was posed perfectly right before this shot but followed me out to get my camera.

Looking forward to visiting again soon when we have more time to swap stories. I had lots of questions about all of the amazing models you have around the shop.

Ted.

Ted thanks a whole lot. There will be time for that. I'm hoping to stay on this planet for awhile!;)

Your wish is my command. And on the upside we just found you someone to help you build the turbolift. As for the anti-matter containment pods, you're on your own.

If anyone is interested I have posted a tutorial on how to create the animated bridge graphics that I did for Steve's CGI bridge. Yuku members can read it here:

Lol @ the alarming levels of lacquer.

Thanks! Doug Drexler got a big kick out of it!

Making kits and some new molds Not much to report. This weekend some work on the bridge will begin again. Chair is in my living room-home theater. I have a great wife!

Steve,

Glad to hear the chair made it into the house. What do the animals think of it? I know Rosie has her own chair but does anyone sit in it?

It's completely impractical but I have wondered what a group photo of chair builders and their creations would look like. IT would take up a LOT of space at a prop party.

And thanks again for the DS phaser. That was just too generous of you. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Well, it was a quick and dirty Photoshop, so much so that I used a screenshot of the TOS model I already had outlined rather than your 66" model, but I'm glad you liked it. If Drexler thought it was cool too, well, for an old Trekkie, I'm over the moon! I've gotten a big kick out of following your build threads and I might just have to give the chair build a try myself one of these days...

That's a cool pic Calufrax, I love it!

I'd love to see a room full of captain's chairs :lol

Noticing some of the other Trek ships you've built Steve, any chance your short film will show the old TOS Big E for example "joining" the Fleet Museum as described but never shown on-screen in Trek? I wonder if visualizing it somewhere in the La Grange point between the Earth & Moon might be cool? If you can't photograph enough of your models or it's impractical, putting other 'old' starships in the background digitally might be cool. I could imagine the original E passing a line of other ships 'parked' side-by-side, saucers forward in a line.

Anyway, just toss that out as an idea in case you like it. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

The animals haven't go to it yet as I have been keeping the door to the home theater room closed! Actually I'm more worried about our guest come for Thanks Giving sitting it it with food and drinks. I'll keep the Phaser with the real laser in it close by! ;)

Calufrax I'll be just happy to finish the film before the end of the year but you never know. I only have my friend and DP for a day.

Spent the last 4 days laying up 24 sections of glass epoxy for three big E kits. I still have the small stuff to pour in Alumilite and then I'll see day light. I went right for the Big E build to the chair and now to the kits. And there's a Daedalus in there two and a few pairs of ears. BUSY! Must finish. No kill I. Yada, yada.

Back to pounding.

Thanks again everyone!

Steve

Finally seeing light at the end of that tunnel. I should be done with all my kit orders Thursday and it's back to this project. I'll be working on the CGI bridge and installing all the great animations Will made.

Looking forward to it. The shoot will be week after next and I'll shoot video of that too. Green screen and all.

Steve

Steve,

Glad to hear you are hanging in there. Some very lucky customers out there will be watching the mail next week quite closely.

Can't wait to see more progress on this next phase.

Ted.
