The DEFINITIVE TDK Joker Costume Thread/Project

I got a couple of new pics.
Got one with the Tumbler, but it was real busy and the Warner staff were being a bit overprotective with letting anyone near it to get a good pic.
Not like I was going to trash it or anything.

I really need to get round to getting some proper shoes.
 
Your shoes look fine broski! The way you weathered them gets the point across. It's not like anyone will give you crap for not having super expensive shoes, everyone's gotta eat, haha.

Anyone buy the Utopia Base tie? Any good? it looks like it's printed, and I'm skeptical as to how the quality of it would be. Anyways, the pattern isn't the right color, but I'm just curious. Anyone have a good source for a Bank Robbery shirt anymore? I'm sure the Buckle shirt has long since been unavailable.
 
I know about the quality of the shirt already, that's no biggie, but be sure to take pics anyway, and especially if you dye it or anything to get the color closer.
I remember there being a Bank Robbery style thread, but when I searched for it the other day nothing came up. Is it gone?
 
got my utopia base socks and tie this morning...

socks are...well they're socks...not much to say...

the tie is indeed a printed tie....and the pattern and colours aren't 100% accurate...

comparing it to the photo on utopia base i'd say the colours have a little less blue in them in real life....

i'll try and get some pics at some stage
 
Figures about the tie.
I tried finding the Robbery thread again, no luck. Can anyone answer some questions for me?
Shoes-- what is everyone using? Just whatever is close, or is there a pair somewhere that is the closest? I know a couple of pairs of Rockports are close.
Shirt-- Same thing as above. I tried some western stores and found a few close things, but they had those pearl like snaps instead of buttons.
Mask-- is there a maker? If not I don't care as it's not a necessity, but I'm just curious.
Socks-- There used to be a picture I had of a shot of his socks, they had some sort of dot pattern ( I think) can anyone help me out?

Please answer the questions, haha. I want to be pointed in the right direction before purchasing anything if something better exists out there.

Do post pictures of the tie! I just ordered a shirt and socks from Utopia Base. The tie looks really inaccurate from the pictures on the website, but I'd be curious to see pictures of an actual one.
 
I suppose it's just what I searched then, I typed in "Joker robbery" or something like that, and nothing came up. I ask questions like that, so people like you can answer them for me!

You may have some luck checking ebay for a vintage shirt with a similar design. I tracked one down on there in a cream colour and then just machine dyed it a corn flower/light blue. Works ok until something uber accurate becomes available.

As to your other question about how I weathered my shoes (sorry only just spotted it), I smothered them in wet cement let them dry and then just brushed off the loose stuff.
 
I'm starting work on my Joker costume finally, and I've found some good thrift store things so far. I have an overcoat, but it's dark grey. I don't know if it's too dark to dye purple. I thought about bleaching it, then dyeing it, but I don't know if the wool will hold up, and I'm afraid the purple will come out all patchy. Any advice?

Looking at those socks from the robbery scene, they look like normal socks with some sort of sewn-dot pattern just turned inside out, especially since the white pieces extend out, away from the sock.

If anyone has any socks with a small, repeated, sewn/embroidered pattern on them, go check them out now and turn them inside out and tell me it doesn't look similar.

I'm putting together a 1:1 Joker display using all Magnoli's clothes and had a few questions.

Did anyone ever locate an accurate (pocket watch?) chain?

Are the TABIO Joker socks still available anywhere?

I'm going for the "magic trick" scene...were the smiley faced and coin buttons used in that scene?

Are Indy's grey suede shoes what most here use? Or the brown oilskin version?

Anyone have any ideas on how to best weather the overcoat like in the pic?

Huh... well, I just bought the socks from Tabio's website less than a month ago, but I guess they've been taken down...

The buttons weren't changed in the film until after the interrogation room scene.

Go with the brown suede shoes, albeit they need to be weathered some.

No idea on the chain, although it is simply a long chain (no pocket watch) that hooks on to the suspenders.

I'll be getting the Magnoli coat, and for me it's too expensive to weather, so no idea there.

Tabio's site is currently not shipping international because they're creating a new site. The deadline to order was actualy just yesterday....

The chain isn't a pocket watch chain...It's a knife chain mate. ;)

As for shoes, I use RJ colt shoes. Not as accurate at all....But they're....considerably...cheaper than Indy's. They started out like the one in the back :

Ok...then where do I find the knife chain?...:love

I read through all the posts, and it seems that some guys found things close...but nothing that everybody really agreed upon as screen accurate?
