The DEFINITIVE TDK Joker Costume Thread/Project

Indy any idea what the blue fabric is? Could the whole pants be lined like that?

Pants usually have some sort of cotton lining along the waist band and pockets. This same lining is used for the facing of the button fly. So, these simply seem lined in a blue cotton.

Kind regards,
Indy

Hey guys, I'm good to get some scars going again if anyone wants any! I can pop out some molds as well if you'd prefer. Please let me know! woody21288(at)yahoo(dot)com

And here's some shot I've never posted of myself before from Halloween time. :

Hey everyone,

Seeing as how this thread is practically dead, I know I won't get a reply really, but I'm going to ask anyways.

I want to wear my Joker costume to Anime Vegas this year, as I haven't gone to any Conventions since last year's SDCC. So, to be a good representation of The Joker, what props are a MUST to carry around with you?

Let's see......

Deck of Joker cards. I have the DC joker deck from the poker set. But I carry a second set of cheap ones to hand out to the public.

Potato Peeler. This always gets a laugh.

Pencil in coat pocket. You never know when someone might ask to see a trick!

Set of watercolour makeups. White, black and red. These are for anyone stupid enough to stand for a drive by Joker make over.

I'm sure there's a ton more suggestions. These are just my basics.

Cool, thanks guys. I searched ebay the other night, but I didn't find anything for some reason.
I was going to buy one of those, and take it to a tailor to get the proper venting done to it, as well as take it in in some areas, as Joker's clothing is nicely fitted.

Nah, I have pieces for a Joker suit though. I was working on one right when the film was coming out, but since I was still in High School I didn't have much money to fund the project. Right now I'm torn between buying music gear, and starting up The Joker again, haha. I can never settle on a costume anymore because nothing makes me excited about it anymore, it's almost sad.
If I had one, I'd definitely post in your thread, but since I don't, I can't. Sorry broski.

Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread or post in this one, so moderators please feel free to move this post to a new thread if that's more appropriate. I just read through this entire thread, so if I ask anything that's already been answered, please blame it on my memory rather than on a failure to read previous posts.

I'm trying to get a reasonably accurate Joker costume on as small a budget as possible. My standards for accuracy are as follows: the shirt has to have a hexagon pattern that's recognizable as the Joker's, but the pattern doesn't have to be 100% accurate. Utopia Base's shirt, for example, though criticized by this community as being less than accurate, would work perfectly well for me. (I realize that the shirt is hardly the only or even the most important part of the Joker's ensemble, but I felt like it was a good example to illustrate my goals.)

The best deal I've found so far is a tailor-made coat + blazer + vest + shirt + tie + pants set offered by cosplaysky.com for $290 (wool coat) or $265 (gabardine coat) plus shipping. Has anyone here ordered from them before? Since the coat is arguably the most important part of the Joker's outfit (and since, purple being my favorite color, I may actually end up wearing this coat on a daily basis), I'm inclined to go with the (slightly more expensive) wool coat.

The only thing that doesn't look screen-accurate enough for my standards is the tie, so I may pick one up from Utopia Base ($21.59). Or would you recommend that I get one of the fan-designed ones from Zazzle instead?

For the socks, I'm looking at either Utopia Base's ($10.29) or this pair from Sock Dreams ($13). Any opinions about which pair is better (in terms of both color and durability)?

For the gloves, I'm considering the officially-licensed Rubies ones. Has anyone had any luck with those? I'm also considering these.

No suspenders for me. That leaves the shoes. I figured I'd keep an eye out for a cheap pair of gray or brown oxfords (new or used) to dirty up.

For the makeup, does it get any better than Mehron's Evil J Villain Character Kit ($15.95 plus shipping)? Does anyone know how many applications you can get out of each kit?

Finally, if any of you has any tips on how to turn stubbornly straight hair curly (even just for a few hours), I'd sure appreciate that! I'd much rather grow out and dye my hair (assuming I can get it curly enough) than wear a wig.

I'm going to wait till I have my costume assembled before deciding on props. At the very least, I'll have a deck of cards, maybe one with all Jokers. I've been thinking about ways to incorporate Jokers into the card tricks I already know or want to work on, but since this isn't a magic forum I'll say no more. =)

Dear 1qsp, sorry for replying to your private message with a public one, but I'd meant to mention this in my initial post and left it out. Boy, do I wish I could afford Indy Magnoli's magnificent collection; I've been drooling over his stuff since I stumbled across his website several days ago! But I really can't afford it right now. =( Perhaps in ten years!

Please look at my original post to see what I'm thinking of getting. I'd love your thoughts about them.
