The Definitive Marvel's Daredevil thread

I just received my G-Star pants, and although I had to order a larger size, they fit perfectly! The only problem is the color. Mine is Dune. Has anyone tried dyeing these pants, yet?

Hi all,
thanks to this thread, I started to work on the black suit a few days ago, and today I finished the holster. Not so easy to do, and aren't 100% screen accurated, but I like how the result came out.

The tubes are in cardboard covered with generic black fabric from an old pant, same for the base, then I sew elastic velcro with clip and I attached 2 pieces of elastic fabric for precaution, and because the tubes fell on the ground, they aren't attached to the base, didn't try hot glue.
For the costume, I have to buy the pads, the right shirt, and the boots, I used leggins for the mask and work.

I was hoping to find better reference of how the whole thing fit together mechanically before making a post about it, but yeah, this was visible in numerous shots in the show itself (in the doubled up shot you can see the bevel of the faceplate matching up with the rest of the cowl, a small clue to the nature of the assembly that was made very very obvious when actually looking for it)

One thing I couldn't figure out was if the faceplate was permanently attached to the balaclava opening at the mandible plates, or if they had separate snaps to allow the cowl to be displayed on its own; that bizarre display answers that question (and also answers why the balaclava was missing when Matt was wearing the costume without the cowl instead of having it just tucked in) though I think that'd be an impractical solution for replicas and just a few matching snaps would do a lot to make the suit more friendly for he wearer :)

My 8840 XXL showed up today.

Definitely the right shirt with the hexagons and the logo on the sleeve (not at the neckline). Although an XL would have probably been perfect, the XXL actually fits fairly well being just a little bit loose in the midsection/waist. However I think that I can correct that by taking it in slightly at the seams where the hex patterns meet the black cloth in the sides.

Can you post the pattern that you used to make this?

Has anybody made any patterns for the stick holster (from the black costume)?

That looks fantastic, much better than what mine was going to look like haha. If you decide to make these for other people let me know, I am definitely interested!

Holster 2.0

While making the first holster I got several ideas for areas to improve. So I wanted to make another since its quick and easy. This time I documented the process. Very simple. Hopefully this helps anyone that is worried about making these. All you will need is a sewing machine or it could also be done by hand.

Here's a link to the album.

Materials:

  • PVC Vinyl or equivalent fabric
  • 1000 Black Denier Cordura.
  • 1" Black Nylon webbing
  • 2 ct - 1" Side release buckle
  • 2 ct - 17" Oak Dowels

I'll edit this post later on with more detail and instructions, feel free to ask questions. The pictures flow in sequence for the most part. It's very basic. Don't over think it.

I was talking creating about a pattern for sewing the suit together, not a digital print file, sorry.
if you made a sewing pattern for it I'd love to buy one this is not a suit for dye sub in my opinion to much 3d so planning to sew myself :)

Hey gang,

The DD red suit from the final episode is on display in LA right now. Hopefully these pics help a few of you with your builds. Note that the screen-used helm is a two-part cowl.

I think for cosplay I may use magnets for the front faceplate should make putting it on much easier lol

Just got robos pep file this will be the first pep I will complete so wish me luck lol I have a plan for the billy club on a budget whilst remaining accurate and I will share and start a thread sassoon as it all arrives. On my third re-watch of the show now it's such a great show but I kinda wish it was 2/3 hour film so I could re-watch in one sitting. Has anyone found where I can get the gloves or similar in the UK?

hey anyone out there know a good substitute for the black pants he wears the confirmed ones are a bit too pricey for my budget thanks for any help guys!

First off, want to say thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to show this. I have a couple of questions - probably dumb questions, but I'll ask anyway!

1) Where exactly are you using the Vinyl/pvc material. In the pics I am mainly seeing the cordura (or so it it appears to all be) for the main holster?
2) This is regarding the overhead view (shown above). Are there two 4x9 pieces (one with straps attached, and another that essentially sandwiches the straps? If so, the top layer (that gets bent to form the slots for the dowel) makes it 3 layers?
