The Definitive Marvel's Daredevil thread

Great batch of screengrabs, Firefly!

I believe that narratively, the hex forearm pads are additions he makes to his stealth uniform along the way as described by the costume designers. They wanted his suit to evolve as he gained experience. You'll remember he tied up his wrists/forearms with the rope before that hallway battle - it might even be by the next episode that he's wearing the hex pads.

It's clear he's wearing some protection beneath the pants - the hex pad looks like a good match for the knee shape, and makes sense given the other pieces used. I wonder if the main piece that Foggy examines from Matt's trunk might not have something to do with the rest of it, though?

These come in forearm/elbow and knee/shin models, but Foggy's definitely holding the leg armor here. Makes sense that it might be what's beneath Matt's work pants!

Who wants to buy 100 pairs to try it out?

I think I found some pants that closely resemble what is worn on the show. Go to the pants that are #005 black (the 6th item), and these are one of the few tactical-looking pants that I've found that have the zipper on the side of the leg extending a bit to the front of the leg, as it looks on the show.

This parts are from this motorcycle full body armor : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/251456085338...eName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I have used the same to my Batman costume !

Anyone found any sources for the 8840r? Everywhere I order they either cancel on me or try to ship me the 8800R instead

I ordered from this site today. It's listed as the 8840T, but with the pic for the 8840R, so I'm kind of gambling on getting the same nice surprise that a few others have where the 8840T is actually the 8840R. I'll follow up once I actually receive it.

On the same topic - I know we have confirmation that the 8840R is screen accurate, but given the gradual evolution of the costume, can anyone confirm that this is the case specifically for the one-shot fight in episode 2? The stitching looks right in some shots and not in others, so I haven't been able to figure out if the shirt in that scene is a completely different one that got sliced up and tossed out and was never seen again, or if Matt bought the 8840R in bulk.

I ordered from there when the link was first posted. The cancellation may have been because of the size ordered. I ordered an XL and it says 8840R on the receipt and it is on its way here. Shipping is SLOW, but it is on it's way. I actually wear a L, but with compression XL works well for me and normally is in stock for some reason. May be worth trying if they have a size up from what you normally wear? Guess I will find out if the image is correct once I get it....if I ever get it.

I think im going to have to make due with the 8800R, the 8840R exists nowhere in canada or anywhere that ships internationally. I did receive an 8800R directly from mcdavid but it had the mcdavid M hex instead of normal hex...I hope I dont get that one again

I grabbed a pair of the 651 forearm guards today. The box art shows the "M-Hex" logo at the wrist. On the actual guards though, the "M-Hex" logo is at the elbow. Since the this is covered up when worn DD style in either location, I don't mind, but I'm becoming more and more confused by McDavid every time I buy something new. :wacko

(6515 elbow guards are shown just for fun).

They actually changed the picture on their website and it now shows the 8800R with the M Logo instead of the hex pattern. That is extremely confusing.

Well I don't care anymore, the suit will still look good with the hex it just wont be screen accurate

Would it be too selfish to steer the conversation back into the direction of examination of the red billy clubs? Would appreciate a second opinion (or six ;) )

From what I have been able to gather, the clubs are quite asymmetrical in a few different ways:

1 Longer Club, "Big Brother", 1 Shorter Club "Little Brother"
Daredevil_Armor_Suit.PNG

Center of combined staff has three silver sections
Screen Shot 2015-04-12 at 6.49.29 PM.png

The knurled handles of each club are identical in length, however when separated, Big Brother has 2 of these silver sections while Lil Brother only gets to "keep" one

Big Brother has a "glass eye" inset into it's silver sections
Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 4.27.28 PM.png

Each club has a smooth end cap at the bottom of each knurled handle
11106060_10206313427185031_1856231733_o.jpg

Each club has a "finger guide mark" on the lower half of each knurled handle

Big Brother also has a smooth "ring" near the top end of the knurled handle; this appears to be a catch to keep the club from sliding out the bottom of the thigh holster.
DD stick protrusion2.pngs25mNt2.png

Little Brother does NOT seem to have this same smooth "ring", raising the question of how it stays within it's holster slot. It MAY have another finger guide mark in the same place.

If anyone can confirm or refute these observations, it'd be much appreciated. We did a test run on machining the knurled handles today and they turned out pretty well. We are aware the smoothed sections are much wider than in the show but it was just a practice run.
