There are more then just the one shot that show the shirt with no hexagons on the side, and many of them look identical to the 8800R. If you also move up to the top of the page PcFish has a pretty convincing image of the shirt with the logo removed. (The logo that was the reason people strayed from the 8800R)

Maybe you should read all 14 pages before accusing a new poster of making an invalid point. PcFish was able to make a near identical piece to a lot of the shots in the earlier episodes just by pealing off the logos on his 8800. Yet you would rather believe an reference to another Nike shirt with no reference material or images.

I feel like you need to get off your high horse and realize this is a forum that is open to creative discussion, this is the definitive thread for his outfits and all his outfits deserve to be explored. You spending time harassing people based on honest opinions is what is derailing the conversation, not people making suggestions.

I apologize for the harsh tone. Let me start over and try to explain more clearly and kindly:

"I'm going to have to disagree with the 8840R statement."
The 8840R is absolutely one of the shirts in the show! No need to cancel this one out in the interests of identifying another one of the shirts. I'm all for identifying another one of them! But:

You're saying it looks more like the 8800R because of a screengrab of a shirt without any pattern at all. If you follow your own link, you'll see that the 8800 has patterned panels. The R has hexes, and the T has M icons. The hex panels on the 8800R don't quite match the pattern of the one on the show, which is only matched in that 8840R.

I wouldn't be surprised if this unpatterned shirt is a McDavid though! This is a good reference image to compare to their product line...

See that's where the confusion came from, for some strange reason it wouldn't grab the quote for the first post I was responding to. However my point was that the images attached in the first post are all of a different shirt than the 8840R imo. Though that shirt is present throughout the series, it seems that they didn't include many pictures of it in the first post. I admit that there was definitely an 8840R on set, but the 8800R seems to be present as well. I'll collect some better screenshots tonight and post as evidence to that point.

I see what you're pointing to - it does look it's got hexes in the top corner! I apologize for my mistake, Jacob. Nice catch.
 
Quick weird product update from McDavid - this pair of forearm gauntlets has the wrist logo product art on the box but it's printed by the elbow again on the actual pads. The pattern is more similar to the old product as well, though it's got some different stitching and the hex shapes in the pad seem better defined. I'm still trying to get my hands on a pair that looks like the latest product art...

There are a handful of variations and it's hard at times to tell when the show is playing whether the metal features are even chrome, brushed steel, or weathered black. Some of the buckles function differently, too. I'd love to see something confirming the details of the belt before I order one - can you point us to good reference for this?

A few observations from my capping session.

I just capped this and this seems to indicate that Matt also wears hexpads on his legs. It looks like there's one on his thigh (in the pocket?) and possibly a knee one, which would make sense with all the combat he does.

In this scene it's possible the stunt double just has extra padding for the fight but he definitely has something under the cargo pants on the back of his thigh and the back of his calf.

In this one, there is a faint hex pattern on Matt's shin (left of the picture). I lightened it to show a bit more definition. At first I thought it could be a transfer impression from his forearm pads, but I rewatched the scene a few times and he's not actually wearing any (shown on the right picture). It's possible he's wearing them on his shins instead of his arms?

I know it's been mentioned before but the boot in episode one at least is definitely the Bates Tactical Sport with side zip. You can see the zip in this image on Matt's left foot. The image in the centre is episode 2, on the right is episode 6. They're best I've been able to grab so far.

Correct shirt debate aside, the left image makes it pretty obvious that the wardrobe department has stitched over the top of the original stitching with red. It doesn't quite match up. The right image from a different episode (episode 4 I think, the one where Claire gets kidnapped) shows black stitching.

Great batch of screengrabs, Firefly!

I believe that narratively, the hex forearm pads are additions he makes to his stealth uniform along the way as described by the costume designers. They wanted his suit to evolve as he gained experience. You'll remember he tied up his wrists/forearms with the rope before that hallway battle - it might even be by the next episode that he's wearing the hex pads.

It's clear he's wearing some protection beneath the pants - the hex pad looks like a good match for the knee shape, and makes sense given the other pieces used. I wonder if the main piece that Foggy examines from Matt's trunk might not have something to do with the rest of it, though?

I imagine this is at Netflix HQ. The image was first tweeted by Beau Willimon, who writes House of Cards for Netflix. The guy in front of the display is a lead on that show.

Perhaps they do tours? It does look like it could be a public-facing space.
