The Definitive DC Extended Universe Batsuit Research Thread

Re: Ben Affleck In BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit!

I like that too. I'm already trying to figure out how to pull that off when I make one of those cowls myself.

Re: Ben Affleck In BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit!

Any ideas on how to get the "glowing eyes" look into a urethane cowl?

Re: Ben Affleck In BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit!

There's are threads on this website that show in detail two different methods how they did it for Iron Man's suit.

Re: Ben Affleck In BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit!

I found this video the other day that went into the process of making the lenses. It doesn't go into detail about the LEDs or anything though.

Re: Ben Affleck In BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit!

Thank you guys for the info on the glowing eyes! Might be tough to get those behind a bat cowl though huh?

Re: Ben Affleck In BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit!

well if your going for the way in the movie. the lights are in the armoured suit, not the other one. if you really want to have that effect in a urethane cowl youl prob have to consider other methods.

so been a few days now and even tho we have the superman and wonder woman pic, we still dont seem to have the one with batman.

Re: Ben Affleck In BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit!

So there is some new info on the Batsuit by the costume designer, apparently he can indeed move his head in the black cowl!

"For those old enough to remember Michael Keaton as "Batman" and not "Birdman," you may recall that the rigid head and neck piece (i.e. the "cowl") on the Batsuit circa 1989 didn't allow for the Caped Crusader to turn his head. So, say, if a villain snuck up behind Batman, he had to swing his entire torso around. Yeah, distracting.

"That’s actually one of the first things that Snyder mentioned to me in one of our initial meetings," Wilkinson says. "It’s a very important thing to Zack that the Batsuit would be comfortable and very flexible, but then would be able to perform in a very natural and forceful way. So a lot of incredible engineering went into the development of the new black cowl."

Re: The Definitive BvS: Dawn Of Justice Batsuit Research Thread

The only thing I am going to say is people need to be patient if they want to replicate this. There are simply things even the video/screenshots are not showing in their full glory. Being "first" shouldnt be the goal with this batsuit.
Just as it was in the past with the Begins suit. 75% of the first Begins to come out were wrong on many levels. Patience...

Agreed, that's why this thread is here, to compile as much as info on the batsuit as possible

Also, something else to notice is that it has a very intricate pattern on it, and details that really can't be seen until zoomed in on. From a distance, the pattern on the suit almost looks ribbed, but when seen in these closer pictures, it's more of a screen printed pattern like on TASM 2 suits, that can only be replicated by screen printing and or puff paint and latex.
